I have an HDP4, and I use it for action pistol shooting. I think it’s too big for concealed carry, but I am sure people do. Otherwise, it’s a solid, reliable, well-made gun for a lot of purposes. As someone else mentioned, pay attention to disassembly and assembly videos, as there are subtle nuances to lining things up properly when disassembling/reassembling the gun. I have the Dawson kit, and it is helpful getting the pin out and back in.

I used to struggle with keeping the barrel link down because of the pressure from the recoil spring assembly. Once you figure out how to use this kit, it does it for you. It’s a bit pricey, but it takes all the frustration out of disassembling and reassembling an HD.

I currently have the C 3.6 and have about 2k rounds through it. I have it on my CCW and really like it.
Shoots great and is lightweight. I also picked up a P4.5 and have been using that for Steel competition and have just over 2k rounds through it. I have no idea what everyone is complaining about a hot spot. Maybe it's my hands, but the gun fits great and is really solid.
I've shot as many as 250 rounds in one session with absolutely no issues.. Easily the 2 best gun purchases I've ever made.

Evan's Gun World in Orange has a P4 and a C4X for rental. The P4 shoots softer than the C3.6 but not as flat as the C4X.

I picked up a P4 today and the plan is to port it and eventually slap a compact grip on it.

I have the C3.6. It's a bit on the large side for concealed carry compared to micros like the p365, but certainly doable depending on your build and outfit.
It is by far the best handgun I've owned, without compare (I don't own a C4X). I hesitated on the purchase knowing that the HD line has a firing pin block and it was going to introduce creep in the trigger. Concerns were unfounded. While it's true my sig nightmare has a crisper trigger, It's hard to believe how smooth the action is on the staccato. When I'm taking my time and precision shooting, my groups close to about a quarter at 7 yards. All rounds touch. If I had to grab a gun for a fight, there would be no hesitation- C3.6 every time.

I was unfortunately in a Turners yesterday and while waiting forever to get everything done, I was able to get my hands on a Staccato P4 (I believe). Im impressed.

Ive never cared for 1911’s ever since I had my last one about 10 years ago and never handled a 2011. I don't care for any kind of safety. But this model fit nicely, I believe it was the P4 4” full size grip. WOW.

I like it only has a thumb safety (no grip safety) but what really stood out was the trigger and how smooth that slide is.

Now Im looking at the P4 and C4X

I really wish I could try one out. Maybe one day Ill meet someone shooting one at Rainbow gun club

I carry one every day super nice and definitely an upgrade from tbe p365xl.

I daily a chunk ported HD3.6, i also own their mothership, the XC.
Yesterday I took 5 shots at 100 yards with my XC, i hit twice, C zone steel. Probably nothing for most of the people on this board, but I thought it was pretty cool to hear the steel ring a 100 yards away

I feel the XC only gun worth getting from them, the other guns are not worth what they ask for especially for not being custom. Looking forward to the new Kimber 1911 DS that got my attention for the price.

THIS is where renting comes into play. I am afraid to dump that much cash into something that may not be that much better than a standard 1911 , capacity might not be worth more than double the price.

Id go for a emp for ccw if i really wanted a 1911 for carry. If your set on carry a big heavy gun then the 3.6 or c4x.

Ya i carry for work my hd p4. I really have been liking the way it shoots but so does my.glock 34. I carry a p365 daily and am now thinking about just going to a g19/ m&p compact to do it all.

I plan to carry m&p carry comp and or m&p metal 3.6 (and maybe m&p 10mm carry comp)... I don't know if ill ever be able to run a thumb safety or even want to attempt to. Ill probably just get my last want/need (Competitor HD) for future competition shooting and call it. Found a platform I love (M&P 2.0) and will probably stick with it. Ive been on a mission to find everything I need in the last couple years, no more collecting pretty pew pews.

I had Vulcan do their Ignis ports on a P4 and the difference is pretty nuts.

do you conceal carry now? if so what do you carry? when I carried the glocks made me too self aware, felt like I was carrying ablock and advertising to the entire world, carried full size 1911's next to cops without a care in the world and they obviously did not notice.

that said you also mentioned price, I like having 4-6 mags per gun, SOME staccatos seemingly take glock mags although it seems not all of them based on the very BRIEF search I did, Iam waiting of the Sig p211 GTO as that uses P320 mags and I have plenty of those. some staccato mags got for 100-150.
