Regrettably, I must inform you that OA Defense is going to postpone a dedicated California roster gun indefinitely. This is due to many factors, not the least of which is pending legislation that would make gun manufacturers liable if their firearms are used in a deadly crime. When we partnered, I know one of the big enticements was the version that would be available to the civilian market. Since we aren't bringing that to fruition, I'm authorized to offer you a full refund on existing inventory that you have that is in pristine condition. If you'd like to continue the partnership and remain a stocking LE only dealer, we will obviously welcome that! Please let me know how you'd like to proceed.

Back in 2005 I believe it was, Ronnie Barrett (owner of Barrett Firearms) put out a letter that he would not sell his firearms to government entities that operate in states (specifically California, New Jersey, New York) where those same firearms couldn't be owned by the people that resided within, and that the states SHOULD NOT BE EXEMPT OF ITS OWN LAWS.
I greatly respect that view/stance.
Route66 do you want(or need) to push products for a brand that will not play ball for the people but will give you a little side action for the LEO only community?

(For the uninformed: Ronnie Barrett said no because the 50 BMG was banned for civilians yet government entities within the banned states were still requesting rifles chambered in 50 BMG)

Amen. Plus the gun has zero holster support on a proprietary platform.

We missed out on nothing when we have the HD line on the roster.

Is there something going on in the CA legislature of which I'm not aware? And if so, Federal preemption would make such efforts irrelevant, no?

This hits the nail on the head.

Why anyone in the firearms community would continue to sell arms to LEOs that have continually and repeatedly stood behind laws that exclude them, but deny us the opportunity to purchase guns sold everywhere else in the country, is something I fail to understand.

Start treating them as we are treated and maybe their leadership and unions won’t be so fast to get behind the democrats in the state legislature that continually saddle us with their stupid and vague laws.

The era of firearms enthusiasts and law enforcement as brothers in arms is a thing of the past. Let them have a taste of their own medicine and see how they like it.

How about when a cop sells one to a civilian and then they sell it a few more times and it ends up in a crime? Are they off the hook then ? Or are they just retarded and think cops hold onto everything they buy

I don't think OA Defense has a large enough footprint in CA to matter. It's a very niche product to begin with and I don't see a lot of traffic for it even in free states. I think the Platypus and Staccato HD line dominates in that 2011 (or double stack 1911) taking cheaper mags space.
