Whoever was operating the system would talk to you to distract you, get you comfortable in resting mode, and then surprise you by pressing the button; that was good to test the reflexes and fight/flight mode...

Reading through almost 10 pages of new posts since I last looked at this thread, something occurred to me.

How do revolvers fit into or affect the chambered or not debate?

If all cylinders are loaded on a DA/SA revolver that is effectively chambered carry. But no one argues those should be carried with an empty cylinder. Yet, when it comes to semiautos there seems to be a raging debate.

Most Double action revolvers have a 10-14 pound trigger pull, they are safe to carry in a iwb or pocket holster. It is a magnitude more difficult to have a revolver ND in a holster then a semi auto pistol.

I get that. But most DA/SA autoloaders have a thumb safety, often with a decocker for added redundancy.

Personally, carrying a striker fire pistol without an external safety chambered makes me nervous. But I’m the first to admit that my firearms preferences are totally FUDish and that may not be rational nervousness with modern designs.

DA/SA pistols with an external safety and decocker are literally designed to be carried with a round chambered.

The real answer is because people are going off their emotions and fear, not logic. A P30 or P226 with DA SA and decocker also has that long heavy DA first pull as a form of safety.

I pulled endless amounts of GD, weapon was loaded but not chambered.
On active operations one lock's & load's, just like hunting.
On hunting, how many commenters here gutted a large animal?

Because the army is lowest common denominator, you have grunts with 70-90 IQ that can barely read and write let alone have good judgement. So big Army takes away some of the risk.
