Open Carry?

As for most of the gun free states in the US the populous of those states still CCs over open carry. It's for good reason too. Open carry you have anywhere from a 1/2-1 second faster draw, so why aren't people in West Virginia, Texas, Arizona, Wyoming, etc. open carrying?
I think Open Carry vs CC would just be personal preference “if” it were legal. Same for type of firearm we all choose for carrying. As someone who carries at 3-3:30, open carry would allow me to be 1 second plus faster. As we all know, one second is big in a close encounter. If others want to stare, so be it. I would also rather carry a full size if I was to open carrying. I find it difficult to CC with anything larger than my G19, and even that I carry OWB in the winter only with a jacket over.

It would be interesting to poll those in Open Carry states to see why they choose open vs CC. Simply assuming we don’t see more open carry, is not fair if we don’t know how many CC in the same area that we saw the open carry. Almost a raise of hands in a restaurant or store “hey how many CC vs the 3 guys that are open carry”

Anyone else get the urge to pull the 6 o'clock open carry? Is that the same "Call to the Void" urge when at a cliff?

I just wanna see what would happen... you try first.

I’ve open carried backpacking/fishing (in places where it’s legal). Honestly, OWB is way more comfortable than IWB. But seems like a terrible idea in densely populated and crowded places for all the reasons above.

You can concealed carry OWB provided your wardrobe allows it. I do that sometimes when it's cold out.

Open carry to me is farm or back country, mountains, etc.

Cities are two populous to do it safely, and never small of back.

Same for me. Winter is OWB with my G19 as I have trouble concealing it at 3-3:30. I found the perfect lightweight jacket to CC then bought 3 of them to have them when the first wears out. Lol

Rest of the year it's G43X or P365X both IWB

How do you handle going inside (in public) where the heat is running? Do you just leave your jacket on?

I'm in SF Bay Area so it never gets to cold outside. I have a lightweight windbreaker type
nylon jacket I wear and usually don't need to take it off inside. If I'm planning to go places where I would need to take it off, I just carry IWB those days. Kinda like picking an outfit for the day. Lol

I’ve always considered open carry in urban areas to be a bad idea. Concealed carry allows you to continue with normal daily life and blend in with others. No need to draw unnecessary attention.
Military and LE have better belts, better holsters, often double or triple retention, weapon retention training, and are frequently have others with the same or similar training in close proximity. I’m guessing the open carry Walmart dude had none of that.

Yeah I'm going to try using this OWB vedder holster for my PDP in the next few weeks when it gets actually cold, under a hoodie or jacket
That occurred to me but never gets that cold where I live.
Cause you live in a mega desert

Actually my cousin carries OWB most of the time apparently but he always wears button up shirts on the outside
