I have a Gen 3 Glock 19 that is a range mule pistol. I shoot it a lot, take it to training classes, compete in USPSA matches, etc. I find the factory mag release to sometimes be difficult to press. What options exist to replace it? I really don’t like swapping out factory parts outside of sights so I really am ignorant on my options. Any guidance you could provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you want a little more extra? If you are partial to Oem mag release; then the Glock gen 3 Oem extended competition model mag release which is standard for the Glock 34/35 competition model.

If you don’t want that much extra. I prefer agency arms extended mag release for Gen 3. It’s a one piece alumnium. But its length is about slightly less than half way between a standard Oem and competition Oem; so not too much and not too little where it’s a middle ground compromise.

These are just the ones I prefer because it’s worked out after installing.

Some guys also like to round out the edges of the Oem competition extended mag release to bevel the sharp edges.

Oem competition
Agency arms extended aluminum
Oem non competition model

Glockstore extended mag release or strike industries extended mag release. I have both, glockstore works just fine. Strike industries has a wider paddle and looks cooler imo

I've tried extended mag releases and they seem to get in the way of my grip. I went to a 2.5 lb mag release spring and that did the trick for me. I use them on my G19.5 and G19.6.

I've had the Vickers mag release on mine for the better part of 12 years and it works good for me. Not too short or long, has slightly contoured edges so no interference when gripping.

Another good option is to have a scallop cut into the frame. Agency did one when they stippled my frame. It makes the oem mag release perfect to reach, without sticking out. But the whole stipple job was $$$$.

If you're not going to use the OEM Glock Extended Mag release, I would highly recommend the Andordynamics option. The OEM is great for competition, but potentially not so great for carry. Since it's so much longer it can be depressed while carrying, then your mag falls out as soon as you have to present. The oversized option from andordynamics is slightly longer than OEM, and gives you the size like a gen 4+ mag release. Slight frame modification needed, buying with the jig recommended.

Vickers is a great option, factory extended can be too long and I find it needs to have the edged beveled somewhat. For a competition gun I’d go factory, carry I’d go Vickers.

Either is easy to install

The Glock one or the ghost one are both polymer, if you get a metal one it will eventually wear into the oem magazine index which is also made of polymer

I consider the Vickers an immediate upgrade for all of my Glocks. I've used it for matches and training classes and the length/profile is perfect for an easier drop without being too easy to actuate. We just sold our last one at the Elite Armory Castro Valley store but we can special order them if you want to avoid dealing with AB1263 BS.
