Isn’t it essentially the same gun with the same ergos etc just metal vs polymer frame? What about the sp2022 do you prefer other than nostalgia?

Just the fact that I'm used to it since I have more time with it. Plus now they're discontinued so even more reason for me to like it since I'll never be able to get another one new
The 226 is better all around. Ergos are similar, but still fits better in the hand over all. Now that I'm shooting striker fired semi autos, I notice the bore axis on both. But since I learned on the 2022 it doesn't bother me and I can shoot very accurately with both

Whenever I shoot my P226 MK25, especially shooting it back to back with my 92FS Brigadier, I think to myself "damn this 226 actually is just as good as a 92FS is" Truly a special gun that everyone should own.

My love for the MK25 was so strong I bought a P220 because…..it has to be awesome??!? Wrong!! I hated that thing. It’s literally the only gun I’ve ever sold.

Not a fan but I know people who love it. Different strokes as they say.

I have 1 P220 Carry, 3 P226s, and 7 1911s. The only gun I keep loaded all the time is the P220 Carry. It’s in the top drawer of my nightstand right now. I love the P220 Carry.

I had a 226 legion sao, it was an amazing shooter. Always wanted to get a hold of a 220 legion sao in 10mm but hard to find without a massive markup

Personally I prefer the P229 but either one is a chunky boy to carry. I would say Glock 19 is a better “all around” gun but that’s just going to start a Glock vs Sig war. Lol.

Oddly, I have both a 229 and a G19 on my LTC and I find the G19 too clunky to conceal but the 229 vanishes just fine. Must just be my manner of carrying. I know I’m an outlier. But sure, let’s do this glock Vs sig World War eleven. Twelve!

I don’t own any 92’s but I do have a pair of 96’s and flat footed at the range they practically hit the target all by themselves. For me, they are just too huge to IWB but I think they would be a fantastic OWB gun.


Based on nothing other than my opinion, I do’t think I’d want to put 10’s of thousands of rounds through the 96’s. They just seem to me that they would wear out.

I never owned a p226 but I got a SP2022 in .40 like ten years ago and it never really clicked for me. Trigger is meh and the high bore axis makes shooting it not as pleasant or fast as most other similar sized guns. I prefer my CZs but if I had to grab a gun for emergency or SHTF it’d be my G19.

Is the p226 different enough from the SP2022 to justify checking it out? I was under the impression the trigger was the same.

Yes. Plus .40 sucks objectively

I should get one to supplement my West German 226, 239 and M11A1. Thought about it a lot, just can't afford it because I work in the Gun industry. If I ever get back into real money, I'll pick one up.

The Sig Sauer P226 MK25 is the best all around handgun ever made. That is all.

Aluminum frame requires periodic greasing. Heavy. Long pull on the first shot, which is considered meh these days.

1911 triggers are WAY nicer than the p226 SA trigger pull, even a cheap 1911. I don’t get the obsession over the p226 unless you are trying to pretend like you’re an operator…

Don't get me wrong, the 226 is a solid dependable gun. But will it still be around after 100 years? I doubt it. 1911 has already made it 115 years and will probably still be around for another 100. There's a reason all the pros use it, we perfected the pistol design 100 years ago
