P365 manual safety and CCW

1911s were/are my primary handgun platform for the last 10 years, so my draw with pretty much every handgun incorporates a downward thumb sweep to disengage whatever safety may or may not be there. I do like the p365 safety, however I found it a little difficult to use because of how rounded/low profile it is. I wound up swapping to Armory Craft extended controls on my 365. They are extended enough to make it easier to use, but not so much that it'll snag on anything

I got rid of my manual safety guns. All my CCW guns are point and shoot.

if a sig is pointed at me, and it isn't hammer fired, the safety is on. I can flick it off by the time i present, so its not bad

After carrying a Glock 19 for years, I bought the P365 CA version with a safety. I actually like it. When I carry. the safety is off, but when removing the gun from the holster, I put the safety on and it stays on until I put it back in the holster and then take it off while in the holster.

This is a great idea. I think I have no trouble manipulating the safety when I’m not going for speed, but its low profile is a problem when I draw. That said, I like not having a larger safety against my body.

Bad or not, I prefer a gun, which does the job without any additional fiddling.

Yep. When I had to draw my CCW it was such a split second thing, saved my life and I’m glad I didn’t have to think about a safety

me too. The other side of that decision is having a purpose built flawless holster so you can confidently keep one chambered.

I was going to say the same thing. If you just incorporate a thumb sweep on everything, you never have to think about it.

I have both and like the fact that I can flip the safety on and off when holstering and in situations that I know for sure are completely safe and want the added comfort of the safety on.

Whatever makes you comfortable. My P2000SK has no external safety and I totally trust my vedder holster and HK

That's right. You can't go with a universal mesh holster here, for good or for bad.

...and if you flick the safety off after holstering and other admin duties, you can just "grab the gun and pull the trigger in any situation possible".

Just because it's there it doesn't mean it needs to be engaged 100% of the time.

I've actually used my CCW against a guy IRL before, and I prefer no manual safety e.g. my P2000SK (my 1911 and M18 do have one) to having one so it goes bang no matter what. Curious on the opinions of those who have used or not used it in combat/self defense

They do sell a safety kit to add it and change the grip module to accommodate it

In my use case it's used primarily for holstering and other admin tasks, but that's just me, so it's not always off.

The purpose of it is it blocks the sear in my manual safetied EDC, which means there's no possible way for it to ND excepting the striker failing.

I also have a EDC without a manual safety which I tend to pocket carry, so I holster it by removing the pocket holster from the pocket.

It's an available option is all it is...
