Poor Fitting Surefire X300A? VP Armory Rails to the Rescue!

Anyone else tired of the sloppy fit/wobble on their SureFire X300A?

I've had to use tape and shims on some of mine to get the fit tighter, and honestly, I've never really liked having to do that.

I recently came across the Vantage Point Armory replacement rails for the X300A and decided to give them a shot. I bought these myself, they weren't sent to me and the company had no idea I was going to review them.

The factory rails on the Surefire X300A are plastic, while these are aluminum. Installation is pretty straightforward, and the entire process took me roughly two minutes.

The interesting part is the fit.

I tested them on one of my loosest-fitting X300A/Glock combinations, and the difference was honestly dramatic. The light is extremely tight now. No tape, no shims, no spacers, and no other tricks. This may be too tight for metal framed guns honestly. Polymer frames will likely be great.

Curious if anyone else has tried these yet, or if you've found another good solution to the X300A wobble issue?

My X300A wiggles as well. I found that ended up being a pro more than a con because holster compatibility is hit and miss when you lock the light up tight, whereas it being slightly loose will generally fit higher tolerance holsters with ease. Never had a failure with the A model and prefer it over the idea of B now.

I have a few A & a few B. My only lights that have failed me so far have been Surefire's. One XC-1 and one X300U-B. The first time with the XC-1, great customer service and fast turn times. The second time with the X300, terrible customer service and super long turn times.

I did the tape thing for many many moons. Been eyeballing these since they came out, finally snagged a pair.

I mean if you already have the U-A then sure. My point was you're going to spend the money on the light regardless, might as well start with the better version. Also $300 for X300s is very high, you can find them for $250-$270 lol

It should be fairly obvious that this would be for those that already have an A. No one would think to themselves to buy an A then buy these rails.

Last I saw an X300 at the local shop they were $279 + Tax and they always have solid pricing, even compared to online. New you're not going to find them from an authorized dealer for much less, if at all.

Seems like it only fits the sliding tab attachment though. I tried it with the QD mounting attachment without the slide tab/allen key; and I couldn’t even get it on the g17?

I noticed some older glock gen 3 17/34 frames have a looser fit; but when putting it on a newer gen 3 17/34/19/23 frame, I have to push and pull harder to get it to move with the QD mount (but without the slide tab/allen screw lock)?

Yeh. That’s the Oem slide lock tab that comes with the x300a. Surefire recommends that slide lock tab for folks who experience play; I’ve called surefire before about the play/wobble tolerance between different g17/34/19/23 gen 3 frames where some were older release while others were newer release. The Allen set screw in the back adjusts tension to the Oem spring that is placed under the U or P plate.

The VP armory rail does help with the angle tolerance where it helps it look more proportionate to the frame; horizontal instead of angled.

But with the VP armory rail with Oem surefire slide lock tab, I’ve noticed I no longer need to use the Oem surefire Allen set screw to help with tension.

The Allen set screw without the Vp armory rails, using the surefire Oem plastic rails along with Oem slide tab; the more I tighten the allen set screw, the more angle I’m getting.
