PPT where the buyer gets denied.

Really? How exactly do you know that? People have been denied for owing money to the DMV, would you think that would be the case? It could also be a bogus reason, unless you think that the government always does everything correctly.
Nah they can’t deny you just for owing money.

If your license is suspended or invalid then you don’t have a valid ID to purchase the gun then. Gotta have a valid ID to buy a gun here.

Sure it could be a mistake but I’m guessing criminal or restraining order lol

That is funny, because they did. He paid and it took a week or so for it all to be processed. It was a DMV reject. No, nothing criminal nor restraining order, so your guesses are completely wrong. It was able to be quickly cleared up, which wouldn't be the case for any of your guesses.

Clearly you have no idea as to what the government is willing to do.

Right he needed to have a valid license and get that cleared up. CA wants money from me for various things and it doesn’t affect DROS.

You’re conflating owing money vs his license not being valid for whatever reason, suspended due to fines etc

And how would you know why the guy in the thread was rejected? My money will stay on RO or charges until proven otherwise

Yes, but I mentioned a case that I dealt with where the person owed money to the DMV and the DROS was rejected due to a DMV rejection.

I am not conflating anything. You are making false assumptions.

I don't know why the person the OP mentioned was rejected, just that the person may not actually know that they were going to be rejected, as in the case that I mentioned. You can falsely assume anything that you want, but it just doesn't make it true. Not sure why you need to make false assumptions though.

I had a wierd one years ago.
Did a trade plus cash (i gave the cash)
The other party didnt pick up the gun in first 30 days. Ffl told me to try and contact him. I called, text, hit him on discord. No replies.
Another month or 2 went by, still nothing. FFL told me i have 7 days to dros it back to me, or it goes to DOJ to get destroyed.
I went, dros'd it back. Waited the 10 days, picked it up.
It sat in my safe for almost 2 years before I said F- it and sold it. I waited and gave the guy a million and a half chances. I have no clue what ever happened to him.
He got shot before he could buy a gun! That happens all the time. He was probably buying it because he was scared of something or somebody. And the buggie man showed up before he could defend himself. God bless his soul!

What did he owe money for?

I don't know, it was quite some time ago and I am not sure if I was ever told the exact details, but the bottom line is that he paid and it was cleared up in a very short period of time, so no matter how much you say that it doesn't matter, it did.

I have had people vanish with no explanation. I have tried to track them down with no success. It happens. This is why you need policies to deal with everything. It is more important with FFLs, storage fees, when it is considered abandon, etc., but even with private parties you need to document what will occur for anything and everything.

Like I stated, he probably had to pay to get his license back. DMV kicked it back for invalid license

That is just so special, your thinking that you know something about something you know nothing about. His license was valid, but thank you for playing.

Not according to DMV and California law per your own admission. If you're gonna claim to know maybe cite some proof?

"Per the DES Manual

DMV Reject Notice

A DMV Reject notice is generated when a DROS transaction is rejected and returned because the driver's license or identification card status is not valid. This notice is also generated when the purchaser's provided information is in conflict with the files maintained by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)."

Better get your life in order before trying to buy a gun instead I suppose.

"If you are hit with a DMV Reject there are a few factors involved. There was an error in the entry of your information into the DES system (DROS). California dealers are required to “scan” the licenses into the system to avoid transcription errors. However, the DMV can make errors on your license that can affect the information we submit. This can often be corrected by visiting your local CA DMV and addressing any issues with the information provided on your CDL/ID.

For DMV Reject there are also other factors, such as missed child support payments reported to the state or a CDL in a Suspended or Revoked status. "

I would suggest that you stop digging. My own admission? Nice made up garbage. I said only that the DROS was denied due to a DMV reject. That the person paid and shortly thereafter successfully submitted the DROS. Cite some proof? I am telling you what occurred, which for unknown reasons you seem to have a problem with and are trying to claim that it was something other than reality. Remember, you know nothing about it other than what I stated.

There is a conflict in what you are claiming, yet you seem to have missed it, you claim to what the DMV Reject Notice is and what it means, but then later you state that there are also other factors, which you are trying to deny. The simple fact is, as you stated, there are other factors, which clearly you are NOT aware of. You also assume that everything is done exactly by the law, which isn't always the case.

You are also citing a non-CA DOJ source, which may or may not be accurate, although even CA DOJ sources are not always accurate.

Slightly off topic.

My Original California Drivers license since I was 16 has lets say "DAVE" as first name.
My new Real California Drivers License has my legal first name lets say "DAVID" as first name.
The front with picture and all printed information "DAVID"
The rear with magnetic strip and bar code when read by FFL comes up "DAVE"

Bass Pro buying ammo.
I have all my paperwork in both names.
Handed the salesclerk paperwork with David thinking that was printed on CDL
He hands it back saying the name does not match.
Tell him to read the front of the Real CDL.
He tells me they go off the magnetic strip.
So I go into my folder and hand him paperwork in Dave.
Sale goes through.

Home Base FFL.
Scans come up Dave.
Looks at Real CDL and says to me the name on the front does not match the magnetic strip or bar code.
I look at him and say take your pick I have paperwork in both first names.
He asked me what my legal name is and I told him David.
He manually input the information from the front of the Real CDL.
I handed him all my paperwork with David on it and sale went through.

So in AFS I have purchased a firearm with Dave and David.

Who gets in trouble....DMV, Bass Pro, Home Base FFL or me?
DMV is the one who screwed up my Real CDL.

Still have that Real CDL and wonder when I renew if the magnetic strip and bar code will get updated.

🙊🙉🙈 Anyone else have this happen?

I recently sold a firearm to someone and we did a PPT at an agreed upon gun shop. In the course of the transaction I said that the sale was final and there would be no refunds because I intended to spend the money and I did. I just received a message from the buyer stating that their DROS was denied and they would like a refund. I told him to figure it out with the DOJ. He then responded that if it can't be resolved with the DOJ his brother would purchase it. I'm fine with that but it would require me to drive approximately 45min to an hour each way and then spend however long an amount of time in the store. What is the standard etiquette in a situation like this? Update after reaching out on here my gut feeling was confirmed and will not be transferring it to a brother or friend of his. We agreed I will pick it up and put it in my safe while he straightens it out. If it can't be corrected I will place it up for sale again and give him the proceeds when it sells.
You should know if you can buy a gun or not and the driving maybe just to pick up money makes sense but I wouldn’t give him money back just for wasting time with the whole thing

Can you just get a corrected ID made? How does the internal info not match the card, wild

I have always used this.
If I am seller or buyer.
Felt more comfortable since I had heard of PPT issues with FFL not releasing on undetermined.
I will only use a FFL that will release on undetermined.

OP....next time.

I was the buyer.
The sellers put 0% so I would get all my $$ back if I failed.
Nice guys but they figured I was good since I was buying 2 and selling 1 that day.
They did not see the one I filled out as the seller for 20% ;)

I had a case in which the magstrip didn't work. The newer licenses used horrible magstrips that quickly failed, the older licenses just kept working for years. I made a typo when I manually entered the name and didn't notice until later. There was no issue, likely due to the CA ID/DL number being used and not comparing that to the name.

Obviously it is an issue if the printed front doesn't match the back information, but then again it doesn't surprise me that such things can happen.
