Preferred East Bay ranges?

USI is awesome. Much friendlier public range than Richmond. It’s newer . $25 shoot as long as you want. The Action Pistol range has Steel Challenge and a small USPSA stage every Saturday 8-12. They have matches too. You can join Diablo Action Pistol pretty reasonably , I think I paid $25.00. USPSA, TacFit, and IDPA.

Richmond Rod and Gun has Action Pistol practice 1 Saturday a month plus Cowboy Action and the new version of IDPA. USPSA matches almost every weekend. 2 gun ,3 gun and rifle matches too.

USPSA is better at Richmond as they have bigger bays and the staff/ members make more challenging stages. The Public ranges are just ok for pistol and rifle. Never tried skeet or trap at either. I love both clubs. Something for everyone.

My go-to is San Leandro. Not the best but it gets the job done. Very grateful that it exists and hope it never shuts down. It has an indoor and outdoor range. You can shoot pistols in the indoor range. You can shoot pistol, shotgun, and rifle outdoors. During hot afternoons it smells awful since it's right next to a garbage dump and unlimited gnats. They have your usual limitations like no rapid fire or holster draw. But you can do other drills like shoot at compressed ready and tactical reloads. The RSOs are nice there too.

If you become an associate member at Richmond Rod & Gun Club you can shoot Wednesdays & Fridays. I think it's $120/yr membership fee and then $8/hr. shooting.
And if you are a member and you go through their Intro to Competition course (half-day course), you can participate in their Action Pistol Practices (one-to-two Saturdays a month).

Not a fan of this at all.
This is only if you want to become a Regular Member which includes voting and other perks if I recall.

Associate membership is basic and requires a general safety orientation. You have access to the Richmond's 25 yd pistol, 100 yd rifle, 200 yd long, action, skeet, shotgun ranges and fishing (possibly more) after the orientation. Unfortunately, every station has some sort of mother-may-I BS before you can use it.

Saturday Night Steel Shooting at San Leandro, which has been mentioned before, but again that's Saturday night only. If you can make it out there, Los Altos Rod and Gun is great. Outdoor and rapid fire allowed. I think they just don't allow holster draws.

I live near Richmond, but the prices per hour (outdoor) kind of kill it for me
Concord is $25 for the day. Circle S is $20 for the day, but both are a bit of a drive too.

That’s for regular members. Associate members get priority registration for uspsa matches that fill up by the time it is open to non members.

Doesn’t read that way to me:

Not interested in going through all that

USI for me. Friendly stuff and whenever you they have advice or comments they are good.

Only problem as other ppl have mentioned is no rapid firing allowed in the regular sessions.
