Features like these are costly, that’s why platforms like eBay or Reverb.com charge a pretty dollar to use their site.

Hmm. Maybe I’m thinking too narrow minded. But this is my breakdown of how to implement. It would require a huge overall and load if we are to standardize all gun posts.

Such as standardize all gun posts. Where these is a drop down for all possible guns (from A to Z). In this case you would need to index it.

Since on the back end, we have a feedback system. When a feedback is issued for a gun transaction, you must enter such price (or price range) with the number (price paid) being anonymous.

On the backend it will probably average the price for last 30 days or last 60 days(whatever seems necessary).

In this case we need API indexing for the gun standardization (rather than random titles). If transaction = gun sale, connect price to gun transaction API.

A sale or purchase through the market place has the big advantage to cut out the middle man. Even at a premium the deal might still be good, without paying tax. Same is true for the seller, his cash in hand might be better than after a dealer takes out the consignment fee.
Any price asked by a private seller, is subject to negotiation. Unless the buyer agrees to pay the asking price. Asking a premium for an item is not price gouging per se.

What is the actual percentage of outlandish overpriced off roster guns in the market place? Bet it’s minuscule on the grand scale. Most want to unload, aka thin the herd. Meaning the seller will be happy at the end of the day. The thing is sold. No takers? Back in the safe.
PPT, consignment, new, for me it will always be FTF.

Selling firearm parts and/or accessories via who knows what website, is not even remotely comparable.

Very narrow.

Because certainly such a standardized list and 'drop down' for 'all possible guns' would include a Sommer & Ockenfuß, a BUL M5, a Tisas Regent SP1, a Detonics Janus Scoremaster, a Super Six Limited Golden Bison, an Arrizabalaga/Star Jo.Lo.Ar., a Semmerling LM4, and so on, among thousands of other firearms sure to not make the standardizing.

Standardizing anything is often a bad idea, as it often leads to inhibiting limitations.

The firearm product world is nearly as vast and varied as the insect population of earth.

I understand the desire to have price controls. I’ve been watching the Gen 5 Glock ads and it doesn’t seem like a lot of the $1k+ ones are moving, and it looks like people are putting up more ads at even higher prices. Maybe it’s Blackrock trying to make the $1200 Glock Gen 5 look like a good price.

How about people just private message crap instead. If you really have an issue with the price and you feel so strongly about it that you need to let your feelings be known, send a polite message to the seller via pm. Once the first post goes on a thread that's negative, the snowball effect of stupid comments just keeps rolling in. If you really want to feel like you got vindication, just know that a lot of these people are getting f'd because more and more firearms are showing up on the roster each and every month. That $1,500 Glock is now a $595 going once again

I'll tell ya now, I'm not going to ask moderators or myself to do price controls. lol. We just have to have scalable rules for it. We have a standard but the standard is flexible so that people have options. If you want to price high, go for it, but it will likely expire.

The main thing for us is to keep things low touch. Some people might not believe it but we offer a lot of freedom for people to do what they want on both buyer/seller side as long as its legal. We try to put in guard rails so that inflated priced items will fade back in the list and only show up in search. Good prices/regular prices get snapped up really fast. Here you should be able to Buy & Sell fast if you're priced right, even on expensive 2011's on up. We do try to discourage inflated prices with expiration and the option for emoji's but we don't prevent you from doing it.

Why bother, you can list anything legal at any price you want in America.

No one says anyone has to buy it. Just because you want something at a certain price point doesn't mean you'll find it listed at what you want, or can afford.

Telling someone they have to list a personnel item at an "acceptable" or agreed upon price point sounds like a California Scheme TBO.

Don't get me wrong, some people are just asshats about it, but that is their RIGHT.

There are always low ballers and cheapskates who think everything needs to be priced for less. Also, with the extra tax in CA sellers try to keep the item price up while selling tax savings. I don’t think this strategy will work in the long run.
PPT transactions are cash transactions. Cash is king!

IMO threadcrapping is a form of passive aggressive lowballing.

Unless the price for said firearm is way out of reality.

I’ve seen G5 glocks posted for 1500+ and others around 1000.

Both are overpriced IMO but the 1500+ ones are outlandish.

The best thing for anyone to do is ignore those with a high price and move on. If the seller doesn’t get any offers, maybe they’ll be smart enough to adjust the price. Maybe not.

With pricing history, sellers and buyers can see what similar listings sold for, or listed for and not sold.

Let's chill on this. If its on the internet, you have to assume there's bad actors on both sites. It's a given. Given how many attempts are already on this site, I'm sure we both have the same problems. We'll do our best to keep things secure and stable.
