Hey everyone, new to the AR15 world. If I have a fixed mag (comp mag), do I need to pin my stock still if it’s adjustable? I can’t find a straight answer.

Fixed mag ("cannot be removed without disassembling the firearm action" AND no more than 10-rounds) can have so-called 'evil features':
The only thing that could trip you up is that some AR-15s (and some AK's, pistols, and shotguns) are banned by NAME. There is no way to make 'banned by name' firearms CA compliant (unless they were properly registered way back).
12276. As used in this chapter, "assault weapon" shall mean the

Simple answer
fixed mag = standard furniture allowed
Non-fixed = must not have an adjustable buttstock, vertical forward assist, pistol grip that allows you to wrap your thumb over the back, or any muzzle device that reduces flash/sound signature(flash hiders)

Unless they’re banned by name
Non-Fixed magazine can’t have a thumb hole stock, regardless if it’s adjustable or not.
Also, “adjustable” isn’t banned. Folding or telescoping are banned. For example, it’s ok to have a stock with an adjustable comb.
What’s unclear is if a Magpul-style PRS stock with a thumbscrew adjustable LOP is OK on non-fixed. It’s not “folding”, but is the LOP adjustment “telescoping”?
And of course this all only applies to semi-auto centerfire. Rimfire AR-15s are exempt.
And there are plenty of legal grips that allow your thumb to wrap over the back. Sparrow Dynamics are my favorite (zero affiliation).
