Feedback Reputation multiplier for new members who complete buy/sell

So I just completed a sell for someone with "New Member | No Deposits " on their profile. It was for a Staccato so it was a somewhat expensive buy.

I just wanted to throw out there the idea of increasing feedback points for "new" members who complete a large first or few transactions. Maybe like 1 point for every $1k.

I told myself that I'd signup as an annual contributor if I bought and sold $3k worth of items. That one sell was close to $3k so I'm going to do that now.

(I don't know why I picked $3k, just an arbitrary number)

We can't do that because there's no way to validate that. The only way to do it is for paid members to leave feedback on their account OR they upgrade OR they participate. Otherwise, it could be gamed by friends who leave feedback for each other to bypass everything. Then the integrity of the warning AND feedback breaks down.

I check who and what the feedback was for if I see someone with a low feedback number.
It doesn't stop me from pursuing a purchase but I will be more cautious if there's not a lot of history.

I was thinking that I'd even be willing to share an image of a DROS (with all the PII redacted) with a moderator.

Maybe they share the same along with an FFL receipt and make a donation/subscribe.

But yeah. That would be rather complicated, too much overhead for moderators and gamers love to game so they'd find a way.

Exactly.. It's really the diversity of the feedback that matters...

Getting started is hard here, but once you have a good reputation, then that will carry for the years to come. This is why I'm working on user reputations and badges. Ultimately, the longer and more active you've been here, the less likely you're going to scam. Even then, that doesn't completely eliminate the issue with certainty.

The best we can do is make this place where people can come and go and keep their reputation in order. It's what was so valuable at Calguns and was ultimately lost. We're starting from Zero, but we have several things where it identifies how long you've been here. The longer you've been here, the better.

I can say fortunately, that so far, no paying member with a badge has been involved with a scam.. People will not self identify. It's ALWAYS the accounts that want to hide.

The bottomline is, the badges or upgrades you do are reputation multipliers. People want trust for free, but it's earned.
