R66 was just doing what was in their best interest, but the people who have access to the Flock system is the problem.

This is also exactly what I expect they did, especially having no info or indicators to prove otherwise.


But here’s the thread title:

Then we’re (yes, myself included) asking or expecting R66 to respond to something accusing them of nefarious intent.

So that’s why I’m trying to make a distinction here. I know having some sort of meaningful context (that hits home) makes this topic less abstract but the more I think about it…I just feel uncomfortable with potential harm towards R66 (or any FFL just trying to keep their business safe) when this is a much bigger discussion.

Anyhow, I’ve said my “peace” on that part.

I’ve been seeing videos of Bay Area LE agencies showing operations catching criminals. Now that cities are taking them down they’re not at all shy about saying the removal of Flock cameras is hurting their ability to solve crimes.

The Constitution hurts government's ability to solve crimes. I feel just terrible that they have to operate under this burden.

Just to be clear, did Route 66 specifically allow it to go up? Did they consent to have it face their property? Did they own the property it was installed on? These factors matter as far as I’m concerned.

We are waiting for that info and the two weeks on Gen 6 glocks coming to CA update.

It's not an irony, they sponsor the site... They listened to the community voice.

TBH I didn't know so much about the Flock systems until this event. I've seen them around but didn't become clear until it came up here. I've known about the system for awhile, i know a couple of investors, we're not close but told me about the system early on. I didn't realize it had grown to the level it has but totally get it.

They have good and bad. Problem is they are getting abused for more than their original intent. But little by little they come at you and then bam you wonder how it all happened.
Shooting range sure doj can look at the cameras just to “observe” who is going there how long you go there etc. comes down to finding out who gun owners are they have you on flock now.

As for security cameras owned by the range only they can access those for theft or damage purposes and they ain’t on a public database where the whole world can see.

In all likelihood they're using cloud storage and/or services for the feeds. So it's not impossible to still give Flock access to those feeds or backups. Wouldn't be surprised if Flock has a connector or integration built just for that purpose.

What is this chance you all keep talking about? Multiple people have been arreseted, charged, and sent to jail for abusing flock. Flock goes beyond scope and says “oops”.

There is no chance, maybe, what if. They are already doing it.
