That definitely seems to be the way some of the folks think.

They think it makes sense to have something like a Glock 43, with an Aim Surplus JTT barrel to have to compete in Open. a 6+1 Micro Pew to compete against purpose built 30+1 race guns with Major scoring. Makes perfect sense!

These the same folks that only shot secret sauce Singlestack 'smith brands in the 80s and 90s?

Then got on Limited builds or riced out CZs/Tanfos loading hair and a half above pf floor for 40?

Those are people mindlessly following every fad and trend thru the current 2011 Lim optics hotness.

Worse, those are those peer pressure people doing their own thing. Generally act unpleasant in a way that turns off new shooters.

F slavishly following gear, work on yourself with whatever safely works for you. Definitely F appeasing the weirdos bc their gear of the moment defines who they are, which is sad.

I went to a local range grand opening yesterday in Elk Grove @River City Gun Exchange, called River City Gun Range. For those of you that may remember it used to be called The Gun Room many moons ago. Stop by and check out the completely refurbished facility and very impressively updated range.

Shout out to Don for taking the time and money to invest and bring that place back to better than it was when new years ago, Nick for helping do all of the things he had to do to help make it happen and all the regular guys like Steve, Sam, Gary & more.

They had a few vendors out. Far and away the most impressive of them was S&W, they brought out a TON of their lineup. The most impressive potential (IMO) from S&W to likely be hitting our roster, hopefully late this year according the the rep, is the Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 HD Metal.

Apparently the official name is something like: Smith & Wesson Performance Center Military & Police 9, 2.0 Competitor Heavy Duty Metal or SWPCMP92CHDM for short

The Vortex rep was there and they set it up with a Defender XL, which was also nice.

I ran that thing like it owed me money (less than 0.25 split pace) and it was stacking them up in about a silver dollar sized group at whatever yards they had the target at (7-10 yards likely). Effortless, even without any dry fire ahead of time.

No comp or porting and it stayed extremely flat, dot didn't even almost leave the window. The grip texture is fairly aggressive, so if you have soft hands, probably not the one for you.

To say I'm excited to see it land on the roster is an understatement. This will be one heck of a solid option out of the box for LO, especially at the price point. This coming from a guy who has preferred Glocks to just about anything else for 20+ years.

Apples vs Potatoes IMO, completely different thing. I wouldn't even consider the Polymer 2.0's as they don't offer anything (IMO) that my Glocks don't already take care of. The HD Metal on the other hand does.

I would just simply rather be able to shoot what I actually carry and get to shoot it at matches without a tremendous disadvantage. Tons of folks out there are carrying comped or ported pews these days in the Micro Compact world, why exclude them? There were a whopping two Open shooters at my last match

S&W should have started their own GSSF clone decade ago.

When Shield Plus rivaled stock service pistol 15rd capacity, it was an opportunity to push an OR compact format rethink to the general public.

We got Shield X converging on M&P 2.0 smallest sku.

There's room to similarly rethink the service sized pistol the way the Shield prompted a rethink of capability of the carry pistol.

Imagine if an S&W rep brought all slide lengths, carry comps, frame sizes, frame material options to a local event.

I'd buy ammo from the local range or club throwing the event just to shoot everything on a demo stage or static steel array. See what works best for things I do.

Doesn't even have to have a dot size or optic housing type I like. Just have the OR models with something zeroed to whatever they felt like slapping it on.

Better, S&W Rep could bring out potential Roster guns to an event and get live feedback from future buyers.

I clear poppers to plate rack to Polish plate rack or spinner with timer, I'd rebuy house ammo to repeat the run. Whatever felt and performed repeatedly best is getting bought/ordered on the spot.

Then I'll go up and down in sizes to see what S&W has that beats what I brought with me. Bc, why not? Hosting range or club can make a few $. I can get hands on anything new to me I don't see in the wild.

Could alternately setup the 5 paper and a steel stopper if space is tight ala gssf. Jog your own guns against what S&W brought gets them sales or data to improve whatever M&P 3.0 will be.

I checked them out today as well on my drive home from a match. Cool new shooting range. All Action Target setup. That is crazy expensive for those that don’t know.

I asked if they may be hosting USPSA or just competitions in general, the owners said they don’t know yet.

Unfortunately I highly doubt they’ll be doing USPSA. The Action Target setup is quite the investment and stray rounds/NDs from competitors would really F it up. In addition, the flooring looks super slick for easy brassing. Not good for Action Pistol, that’s another liability.

They have a great selection of inventory of all types. I wish their (second) business well. Hopefully I’m wrong and they do decide to host small matches.

We are considering it. Main concern is CMU block wall currently. We will see in the future for sure!

For sure, but remember S&W has got quite a few pews on roster already, so they know how it's done. Obviously the time line, we have no idea.
