S&W M&P Shield Plus: Grip

I'm enjoying my new Shield Plus, which I've had for several weeks. Carried it for the first time today, as my newly modified CCW license arrived, listing the Shield+ (and a couple other guns I added).

I love just about everything about this Shield (as a Carry-specific gun).

Among other things, it's grip is great for shooting, but today I learned it's not too great for carrying (for ***me***), as it rubbed my skin absolutely raw by the end of the day. After a few hours it was like torture moving around with it, especially getting in and out of the car.

I was pretty sure after a few more hours carrying this gun, it will probably tear through my skin.

I got home and took some Tennis racket grips I had and started cutting away. It's definitely much better now, here is what it looks like:

How about you guys that own the Shield+? How do you like it? Is the grip working for you, specifically for carry? Are there any other solutions to reduce the aggressive texture?

After shooting a few thousand rounds and carrying it mines just not as rough and it doesn't bother me.

I have a solution to this that I did to my shield plus. I forget what grit I used, but I took some very fine sand paper and did a couple of passes on the handle to knock off the sharp stippling that irritated my belly. Didn't change the way the gun looked and my belly never got irritated again.

I've read that about the grip on this. I've considered grabbing one because the original Shield I sold but I was shooting well with it. I would probably just swap out that ugly LCI for an Apex one. Original was nice, shield Plus I'm sure is much better. I would probably add a Hogue grip on it though, if I were to carry it.

Yes, I had the Shield 1.0 which I carried for a few years. I put the complete Apex trigger kit on it, and that basically transformed that gun. I had a Hogue grip on it, which helped thicken the thin grip of the 1.0 and feels very nice.

With the exception of the grip feel and mag capacity, I cannot tell the difference between that Shield 1.0 w/Apex trigger vs the Shield Plus. To fix the capacity shortage of the 1.0, I added a Maguts kit, which gives it +2.

I'm not sure about putting the Hogue grip on the Shield Plus, as it's grip is already thicker than 1.0, and the Hogue grip might make it too thick now.

What holster are you using?
I use Stealth Operator Compact, that I wear at about 300. I like this holster a lot. It isn't bulky, minimal print. It's a pretty innovative multi-gun holster that also fits my 9mm Glocks and HK P2000SK. They all click in.

Was a little worried about doing that, but it's good to hear it can be done, thank you, I think I'm going to try this.

I like the addition of the Hogue Beavertail grip. Easy on the skin, clothes don't stick as much as to the oem grip, and isn't bulky in my opinion. I like the exaggerated finger grooves to aid in drawing. They are 9.97ish at Sportsmans - I would try that before sanding anything.
