Shield Plus owners in the outer states are having a big problem loading the last round on the Shield Plus' 13-rd mag.
It's pretty common that the last round on a lot of different mags is more difficult, but few, if any, are as impossible as the one on the 13th rd of the Shield Plus mag.
S&W didn't intend for it to be that way for sure, however the problem is in the design of the follower and how the springs get bottlenecked during compression.
Picture of the problem and the solution:

It's recommended that a file is used to reshape that ledge into a ramp in small stages. Apparently, it's very tempting to use a Dremel as the problem can be solved in seconds. But that might risk making this area of the follower way too thin and compromise its purpose to keep the follower straight throughout its entire travel up and down the mag. So a bit of patience is required there to do it right.
My brother in Texas says this has fixed the last round problem on his mag and it loads just the same as the last round of most other mags. He has also tested it for proper functionality at a day at the range running a couple hundred rounds through it, and all seems ok.
And so... in the event that the end of the mag ban in California ever comes, this post is here, ready to help Californians make the newly liberated Shield Plus' 13rd mag work right.
