Saiga 12 CA Legal?

I have a Saiga 12 Shotgun, I'm not sure if it's still CA legal. I bought it when I lived in CA, but now I live in Oregon. I have a maglatch on it now. Is there anything else that I need to do to it in order to sell it to someone in CA? It has a pistol grip on it as well. Thanks.

Since the bullet button is no longer recognized as a fixed magazine in California, it would be an assault weapon under 12276.1 (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine. You would have to alter it to have a "fixed magazine" as "an ammunition feeding device contained in, or permanently attached to, a firearm in such a manner that the device cannot be removed without disassembly of the firearm action." Or you could convert it to single shot by removing the gas piston. Unfortunately, both options would be pretty lame.

The Maglatch would appear to create a "pump" action shotgun, bypassing the semiautomatic AW. Not sure I'd trust the overlords to understand that.

12276 is no longer valid PC.
12276 has been replaced by 30515.

That is correct. My Vepr does not operate in semi-automatic mode. It functions similarly to a pump-action shotgun.

So any firearm which holds multiple cartridges in a magazine is a repeater so it can not be a single shot.
Single shot firearms only accept a single cartridge in the whole firearm.
What you have is a manually operated repeater.
The most common manually operated repeaters are bolt-action, pump-action and lever-action.

It certainly gives the feel of a bolt-action rather than a pump-action shotgun.

Where do I register to legally keep my preexisting modifications? I've only owned it for about a year, the modifications have been on it for a decade, and I would be moving into the state with the firearm.

All you need to do is get into your time machine and turn the time back to 2018 and then you can submit your registration before June 30th 2018.
You will need photos of the shotgun showing the bullet button as well.

I'm not sure , but if you install a Maglatch gas port plug and turn into a bolt action shotgun, you may be ok. I am selling mine, because I no longer live in the PRK.

I did not say that manually operated AK type shotguns could not be brought into California.
I said that ASSAULT WEAPONS can not be brought into California.

Of course you can bring it in when it's converted to no longer be a semi-auto shotgun with a detachable magazine as it's no longer an assault weapon.
