Not entirely, the ruling seems to support the process where a drug addict goes through some form of an evaluation procedure and only after failing that do they be deemed a danger to the public and can have their 2A rights limited. Before the ruling, just a casual connection between drug use and firearms was enough for 2A rights to be limited and the danger to the public was simply assumed.

If law enforcement adapts and utilizes more evaluations, then drugs and drug users could get screwed over that way.

Isnt this ruling specific to MJ and usage not indicative of addiction of a controlled substance? Hunter is a raging drug addict. I dont think this ruling applies to him.

He was also charged with lying on a federal form, not being a drug user in possession of a firearm. So even if it did apply to crack, it wouldn't apply to him.

While I agree, this state also overwhelmingly voted for becerra and I imagine a lot of those are people in caguns consistently complaining about gun laws while voting for the architects of them. I’m not sure the supreme court is interested in saving us from ourselves.

9-0 ruling too. In my opinion, it makes sense. Alcohol is far more dangerous than marijuana.

That would essentially be like saying people who drink alcohol cannot own a car. It's your responsibility to do so in a safe manner. Just don't mix the two

9-0 is surprising but the actual ruling in our favor. I love that they called out the contradiction of the government of lowering it to a lower class drug while also trying to enforce this.

Big step to prevent future “drugs” or classes from being added to the prohibited list for something that may not even be unlawful.

Right, any place that sells alcohol for consumption on premises is off limits. So as my CCW instructor pointed out, you can’t carry inside a Chipotle because they sell beer you can drink in their dining room.

Nope, not since SB2 kicked in 2026. It used to be you couldn't carry in a place whose "primary purpose" was alcohol sales, but that was a CCW policy and varied by County/IA not a law.

The current court is fearful of controversy. I expect no big changes. Ever since that nut tried to assassinate Gorsuck the members have been afaid to upset the millions of nut jobs running around in this country.

With a gated home, armed guards plus 24/7 security they might grow some balls.
