What is the process to sell a handgun to someone. I understand going thru an FFL (Tuners) or some other place. Both parties are involved, the ffl holds the gun for the prescribed time, the buyer then picks up the item

If the buyer is not local what do I do

FFL does DROS paperwork
You both leave
Buyer is responsible for picking up firearm after 10 days but before 30.
You have no responsibility after that unless the buyer gets denied.

Dont go to turners if you can avoid them. They make the paperwork process much longer than it needs to be. Go to a mom and pop shop and you will most likely be in and out quicker than turners.

Pretty sure you'd want to pick up the gun that's still in your name.

If buyer is denied and seller doesn't want to come pick it up or designate someone else to do so it is surrendered to Law Enforcement for destruction.
This is why I tell people to have an arrangement on what will be done if the buyer is denied.

This is definitely good to think about, the gun can (and should) return back to the original owner, if at all possible. We don't want to see guns turned over to law enforcement to be destroyed!! What happens with the money would be between the original owner and the denied party at that point.
