Shameless promotion

You should stop filming in portrait mode. Computer monitors, televisions, movie screens, etc. are always in landscape mode. For a reason. Videos in portrait mode shout “this was made by a little kid”.

The future is now, old man. lol.

My longer format videos are in landscape.
Just like this one

Anything 3 minutes and under is automatically put into portrait mode and made into a “short” by YouTube. The longer ones are filmed landscape and uploaded as such. Almost all my viewers from my channel are mobile viewers too.
 
It’s still a lousy mode. And it’s easy to turn the mobile device sideways to view.

The only reason YouTube and others use portrait mode is because of all the stupid and ignorant people filming in portrait mode. They are clueless. Even the placement of our eyes in our heads is optimized for landscape mode. Our eyes aren’t arranged one above the other.

Shorts cannot be in landscape mode though and since all the videos are automatically put into the shorts category if they are less than 3 minutes, it makes sense to film them in that orientation. If you film it in landscape it will zoom in and chop off huge portions of the footage.
