No way I’m paying an 11% excise tax on custom art. I’d rather just buy the base and get those grips separately.

No... can't be that. That FCU it titanium. The newly listed "handgun" specs say it's steel;polymer. Could it be this?

Its not titanium its titanium nitride finish.

If your IA specifies no modifications it’s one way to get around it. Also the slide is machined. It’s available on Turners right now for about $680 which is a pretty good deal. Offsets the 11% tax. I have one and like it so far. Only real drawback was finding a holster which I found a Kydex one from SharkCoast Tactical directly. I’m sure if you can find a local manufacturer they could whip one up.
