Haha if you can afford it I would. I just wouldn’t worry about ammo costs for the 380 for training purposes. A few hundred rounds and you’ll feel pretty confident with it.

I did train with my shield X but really not that much lol and I shoot it better than the bigger Glock 19 (mr920) which I’ve put a lot more rounds through.

Honestly you can’t really go wrong with going with either. Curious to see what route you go lol

P365 - I personally would like the trigger safety

You can get a tyrant trigger shoe for p365 which has the safety nub

The BG 2.0 is easily pocket carried with a pocket holster.

I would take another look at the 365 regardless of no tirgger dongle it has a manual safety and is way easier to modify

If you are after reduced recoil its definitely worth looking at as with the comp they are damn near like a 22.
But size wise the BG is smaller.

My BG 2.0 took about 300 rounds to smooth out. It’s very nice to shoot now considering its size and weight. My intention is to practice with it every month or two, so I’ll use a bit of ammo, but it’s about $25 a box vs $18 for 9mm so no huge difference.

I’ve got 150 or so through the Shield X, it’s been 100% reliable.

I thought the shield x used a different slide. Apparently I was wrong.
It definitely has a different contour but sure lookis like it will work

I'd say Shield X for sure out of both of them. I conceal a Walther PDP Compact and my P2000SK easily in summer clothes let alone my Shield. .380 is inferior to 9mm by a margin and small guns like that are hard to shoot well... no reason to handicap yourself

However carrying the Walther is obviously the chad move

My only issue is I’m trying to keep the carry guns as close to stock as possible especially when it comes to the triggers and especially with Bay Area counties.

I had both the BG 2.0 and p365-380. I kept the p365 the BG is not a good pistol to me. I was able to get my money back so i just consider it a learning experience.

Just a little off topic..

Looking at the BG 2.0 and the Shield X side by side, I won’t be surprised if S&W has another 9mm on the way that’s smaller and more like the BG. The Shield X is great, but it still uses the same barrel design, slide design and interface as the Shield plus, where the BG is much more compact with its split feed ramp setup. A Shield X2, 15oz, 3 1/4” barrel 9mm would be cool..

Of the two, the Shield X seems to shoot better, but it’s not the next step evolution in shrinkage that the BG is.

I think the best thing would be to find a range that has both for you to try. Otherwise, given your stature, I'd probably go with the BG which is smaller and probably a tad easier to conceal with light clothing.
