Shield X vs BG 2.0?

I had both the BG 2.0 and p365-380. I kept the p365 the BG is not a good pistol to me. I was able to get my money back so i just consider it a learning experience.

Out of curiosity why have a 380 p365? Isn’t it the same size as the 9mm?

Just a little off topic..

Looking at the BG 2.0 and the Shield X side by side, I won’t be surprised if S&W has another 9mm on the way that’s smaller and more like the BG. The Shield X is great, but it still uses the same barrel design, slide design and interface as the Shield plus, where the BG is much more compact with its split feed ramp setup. A Shield X2, 15oz, 3 1/4” barrel 9mm would be cool..

Of the two, the Shield X seems to shoot better, but it’s not the next step evolution in shrinkage that the BG is.

Don’t think the shield x was supposed to be shrinkage. It was meant to be the (opposite) a larger shield plus lol Albeit it’s also narrower than the plus. But it’s got a longer barrel and taller frame.

That in between sized gun you’re hoping for is technically the shield plus. Although it’s a few ounces heavier than the 15 ounces you’re hoping for.

I just know if the bodyguard came in a 9MM I would buy it in the 9MM lol I only bought the 380 because that’s the only way they could make a gun so small and light. 11 ounces is insane for such a useable gun.

Little to no recoil when I rented, but I shot like crap with it. The gun is so small.

It just looks like there’s some BG 2.0 tricks available for a 9mm. Not that I need anything else..

Keeping my ammo types limited is a big thing to me, I really didn’t want to add 380 to the mix. It’s not a powerhouse round at all, so I had dismissed it. But just like you said, the BG 2.0 handles really good for its size and weight. Also found that a in a group of local competitive shooters, several use 380 as a daily carry. That opened up 380 as a viable option in my mind, with the caveat that I don’t shoot near as well as that group, so I’m getting more structure in my training.

I carry the BG2.0, Shield Plus, Shield X.

The BG2.0, depending on your holster setup can be hard to get a good grip on draw due to its size. I use a low profile holster with no sweat guard.

The Shield X is thinner than the Shield plus so it takes some getting used to. I shoot the X better than the Plus.

The shield plus is just there. It fits, it conceals well.

That being said, the Shield X and BG2.0 are my go to’s.

Yup, same size. but I can hit exactly where I want and rip all 10 rounds off rapidly. I hate small guns, but they are easy to carry. I have a VP9SK and a P09c for 9mm. I have an OG shield too. The P365 is much smaller and much easier to carry and shooting .380 out of something that sized with a locking breach is easy. I’m middled aged and have arthritis, beating the out of my hands so I can carry 9mm in something that small is stupid for me. Sig despite their best efforts hit it out of the park with the p365-380 and hell p365 in general.

Shoot a p365 and p365-380 back to back. It’s eye opening the difference in recoil and controllability.

If you’re getting into 380 just be aware cheap ammo will group like . It’s fine for getting reps in, but do not judge your pistol or self off of the paper. Also depending on the pistol they will be picky on bullet shape and weight. If you’re going to do any of the weird boutique ammo run a lot more then normal to verify feeding and mag compatibility.

For my CCW practice, if I’m anywhere in center mass, with no flyers at all, I’m good. I try for slower paced tight groups about half my practice time, the other half is quick and center mass, as fast as I can be reliably on target.

So far the BG 2.0 has been pretty solid. It’s close enough to my G43 to carry (whenever it’s on my permit..). First impression of the Shield X is that it might be better than the 43, but I don’t know that for sure yet.

Shot 400 rounds over the weekend. I didn’t have a single issue. I was using Winchester, Blazer and Fiocchi.

I shot 100 rounds of Speer Gold Dot to use as my carry ammo.

Easily becoming one of my favorites.

I have both the Shield X and Bodyguard 2.0, and plan to add them to my CCW (removing my Glock 19). If you want some pic comparisons, I can do that or if you want to check them out at the range, I can meet at the San Leandro range. I’m not a weirdo, you sold me a couple of items earlier this year

He did this for me. First you have to meet in the back alley of the building. He will be in a U-Haul van. He will then ask you to feel his appendix area and guess which one he is carrying. This is how I ended up with a P365. Recommended!

First time carrying through summer months. My G19 is not fun, and my other one is a full size PDP. Looking to get a smaller frame for easier concealing in athletic shorts and t-shirts, which has led me to Shield X and BG2.0. Plan is to replace my G19 entirely.

I would've just picked the BG as a no-brainer, but I can already see the training costs of a .380 adding up over time. This makes me lean towards Shield X, but I'm not sure how much the thickness difference between this and a G19 would make. I believe the gun heights are similar.

For those with a Shield X, are you able to easily conceal in summer clothing?

As for me: 5'6", hip to hip distance of about 8-9", waist size 30"

Other options that I ruled out:
- P365 - I personally would like the trigger safety
- Hellcat - I absolutely hate the trigger lol

BG 2.0 with the Gideon Pebble dot is perfect for CCW! (IMO)

FYI the BG 2.0 CC does NOT like PMC at all!!!!! 40% jam rate. My best guess was that the bullets were not crimped we’ll so the rounds would jam in battery. Tons of light strikes and I had to brute the rounds out of battery. It was ugly.

I have both and carry both (along with a Shield Plus). - I used to be a Glock guy but I’ve fallen heavily into the S&W pool…

If you want a gun you can carry anywhere and in any kind of outfit I’d suggest the bodyguard carry comp - it’s insanely nice to shoot.

Haha if you can afford it I would. I just wouldn’t worry about ammo costs for the 380 for training purposes. A few hundred rounds and you’ll feel pretty confident with it.

I did train with my shield X but really not that much lol and I shoot it better than the bigger Glock 19 (mr920) which I’ve put a lot more rounds through.

Honestly you can’t really go wrong with going with either. Curious to see what route you go lol

I ended up trading a slightly used PX4 for a brand new Shield X. Probably my first time getting a gun without ever having shot it lol. Will see how I like it when it's out of jail. Probably my biggest fear is how it'll conceal relative to my G19. Hoping the thinner profile can make it a brain-dead concealment option.


Otherwise I might trade it for a BG 2.0
