Lab costs plus fees to the CA DOJ etc?

Enough for manufacturers to need to think about if it’s work the R&D to develop a California model and also pay for that testing; and also think about how well that model will sell considering costs and labor to manufacture?

Hard to see why it is so slow to get the Stacatto HD 4.5 on the roster since mechanically it is the same internally as the 3.6 and 4. The 3.6 caught me by surprise in a good way as I was not even aware of it until it hit the roster after the 4 but the 4.5 seems to be somewhere out in the ether. I’ve been chomping at the bit for it since the end of June.

Same, I got the 3.6 the day it hit shelves and love it but I want a full size

Outside of the California compliant models, Staccato currently lists the HD4 with an estimated availability of 5–7 days, while the HD P4.5 shows an estimated availability of 90–120 days. Until demand for the HD P4.5 decreases outside of California, Staccato appears to be prioritizing the HD4 for the California market.

I can see Sig updating the model and make that into a one piece ordeal and charge for money for it.

It's still gonna be cheaper than the XC.

Lab costs & fees are probably the least expensive component. Design/feature integration, prototype, production tooling changes (CNC programming and physical tooling to produce CA-specific slides and frames), destructive testing, etc. Can all easily lead into the tens to hundreds of thousands.
