SIG XRay 5 “Smart” Optic - Zero your optic with an app

I was hoping for a user / app configurable reticle but it’ll have to be a future optic. The round counter is very interesting though.

I must sound so crotchety but I can’t get over having Bluetooth on a firearm. The “internet of things” are easily hacked and the App Store description doesn’t specify if the app can push new firmware or receive OTA updates. ( I didn’t watch the long video, just looked at the app in the App Store)

Ultimately it’s more paranoia than realistic that I would suffer a hamas-pager-attack on my optic, but in my bones I believe IoT firearm accessories are a foolish road to take and paves the way for DRM’ed “smart” guns

Nerd alert haha. I dunno zeroing is such a simple operation that actually seems harder or at least would take longer if it's automated or app controlled. I see the appeal for changing ammo types I guess but you would still have to confirm and therefore still do the same amount of work. But hey the heart wants what it wants.

This Foxtrot2R WML pairs with the optic to auto-adjust brightness. I don’t use auto-brightness (yet) but pretty cool stuff.

Once enough people have this stuff. I’ll get a Flipper Zero.

Yeah. Appears you can store multiple zeros which is cool but that’s gonna take some time.

Well tbf this is how all thermal / NV optics work. The holosun DRS has a built in reticle(for NV ) that can be adjusted via screen. I have one on my 1301 and shoot a ton of slugs out of that thing. Still holds zero.
The drs also has a normal red dot that can be adjusted by caps.

On the sig no idea. On the drs-nv it uses 2 a123 rechargeable batteries, if the batteries die enough to not power the NV the normal red dot will still be power for like 50k hours or so. It was some crazy amount.
