Single action exemption still a thing?

I was looking at a Taylor’s single action revolver. For whatever reason sportsman’s warehouse says the 6” model is California legal but the 4.5” is not. Gun shop misinformation or is this an overall length issue?

Gun shop FUD.

The revolver must have a barrel at least 3" in length, an overall length of 7.5", and a cylinder that holds at least 5 rounds.

There are no single action revolvers on the “roster of approved handguns” at all because there is no need.
All it takes is the cylinder to hold 5 or more shells, the barrel to be 3” or longer and the overall length (aligned with the bore) to be 7.5” or more.
It’s possible that some 3” barrelled revolvers won’t meet the 7.5” rule but almost any 4” or longer single action should have no problem even if it’s a 22.
