Sold listing privacy update
When a listing is marked Sold, the seller's name used to be blurred. It's now hidden instead: guests and other members see Seller hidden, and the seller's details aren't on the page at all. This keeps who sold what out of search engines and scrapers.
On a sold listing, guests and other members no longer see:
- The seller's name, avatar, profile link, badges or feedback score
- The seller's name on their own comments and answers under the listing
- The seller's name in quotes or @mentions, including when someone clicks Reply
- The "More from this seller" section or the seller as "last comment by"
Feedback on sold listings
The Leave feedback button no longer appears on sold listings, because it linked to the seller. Instead:- To get feedback: open your DM with the other member, click Request feedback, paste the listing link, and choose whether you were the buyer or the seller, or whether it was a trade. They'll get a link to leave you feedback.
- To leave feedback: use the link they send you, or the feedback button on their classifieds profile.
What this doesn't cover
This isn't full anonymity. Names typed as plain text in comments aren't hidden, and feedback history, which only logged-in members can see, still shows who traded what. That history is what makes feedback trustworthy. We are looking at a removing the listings over a period of time. The deletion mechanics are something I have to be more careful with. In this case, using search won't point to a specific user. Please keep titles and prices intact when you mark something sold; they help everyone with price discovery.
If something looks off, let us know with the listing link and we'll check it.
