My seller and I learned of a peculiar policy at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Elk Grove. I was trying to do a PPT of a CZ75B. They claimed they couldn’t because it’s not listed on their website as California-compliant — that is a company policy. Nothing to do with California law or regulation.

At first they tried to say it’s because “…it’s not on the roster.” We pointed out the the roster does not apply to PPTs. That’s when they had to fess up and admit that it’s just their policy. They guys at the counter were courteous and helpful, and even found us a nearby FFL we could use instead.

The seller and I grumbled a bit and walked off, agreeing to do the sale next weekend, elsewhere. Just be forewarned of this oddball Sports Warehouse policy.

They’ve had this policy for awhile already; they don’t ppt off roster, even though the roster does not apply to ppt.

They also don’t honor 03/coe 10 day waiting period exemption,l (leaving the same day) for C&R handguns or c&r long guns. I was told that even for their store inventory Norinco sks; it’s just a corporate policy.

How was the wait time to be helped for you two? Was it busy? Before the 11% excise tax, they were known for having long wait times compared to small mom and pop.
It was over half an hour. Their online queing system is useful. It gave a good estimate of where we stood in the queue. There were 4 people ahead of me for gun inquiries, and a whole herd buying ammo, which they handle as a separate line.
