A few months ago, there was a guy giving his boat collection away; most were small and fixers, but one was big enough to live out of, with a bit of work and imagination! Alas, I had neither the trailer to haul it, nor any place to put it. Still, it would have been more comfy than the inevitable dog house if I'd brought it home!

Oh, I still wind up in dog house quite often. Hardly notice it at this point.

But, yeah, if you know what you're doing it'd be a great way to get into one!

key phrase, "once you have the brass". If you are buying new factory brass x39 ammo to reload the brass, you might as well buy 556, 300 or 308 and reload that brass. It makes no sense to buy or reload x39 ammo anymore. Brass cased x39 was never that cheap. I imagine most people have steel cased x39, not brass cased, because well, that was the whole point, AKs love steel case and it was cheap.

I never went deep into the AK or SKS. I only have one of each. I haven't shot them in a long time and don't really plan to.

Definitely, the only reason to reload it is if you just really want to shoot your AK, 556 makes way more sense for a number of reasons. I just process range brass for 556 so it's free.

It makes sense if you're going to shoot them. Shoot what you like; otherwise everyone would just be shooting .22LR all the time.

I guess if you really like AKs. They are cool. But I love ARs in 556, 300, and 308. So I'm obviously buying and reloading those rounds. I could never get into 22LR a lot. It just doesn't feel like I'm shooting anything.

I know. An ak I almost bought in 95. Was a Hungarian underfolder at oc gun show 250 bucks too.that version is worth a lot today but seems it takes 700 or more just to get one here in az now. I’ll stick to my ars for now.

But speaking sks in mid 90s we were going to go on a camp shoot fish trip. Brother wanted to go last minute he did t have a gun told him about the sks no wait period. He runs to true outdoorsman buys the sks buys a case of ammo a thirty round mag comes back hr later lol. Think he was out with sks,mag and ammo for under 250 bucks tax fees etc. hard to believe that was ca in the 90s.

My Saiga 5.45 /AK74 I paid like $649 for it in maybe 2016-2017.... got confiscated now I see them going for 2 grand. Made in Russia and everything
