Does anyone think the war on Iran gonna escalate
Should I stock up on food and water ?
Sugar ?
The stuff that goes out of stock during war

I don't know what'll happen after we complete the final piece of U.S. General Wesley Clark's supposed list. Undoubtedly, we're going to have continual escalations as leading global powers get checked and international borders fluctuate. Throw in future water scarcity and other natural disasters to really spice things up.

Others in the know or think they know can correct me: Prep as necessary for the typical California disasters (fire and earthquakes). That should cover basic necessities like water purification, travelable food, and shelter. Supplement with other precautions per your bias or phobia. If you have the space, past concepts like victory gardens and root cellars to address current and future economic downturns could work.

Good luck and godspeed

My survival plan now involves bartering off my vintage Pokemon cards for supplies: food, water, ammo, ect. Because apparently their worth more then their weight in gold last time I checked offerup

You should stock up on what you normally eat so the you could close your front door and not need to leave your home for at least 3 months (6 months to a year is better). That way, you can ride out most emergencies and not have to be dependent on going to FMEA type places to get food and possibly expose you anything that might be contagious.

I actually laughed out loud to this in a very “ya got me” kinda way. “Supplement for your phobia” is absolutely right.

There are definitely tiers to prepping for weirdos and non-weirdos alike. Although the weirdos are starting to look more and more sane.

As just a baseline, let’s call it tier 1, get a water filtration system. Fill your pantry with dry goods you like to eat. Canned chicken/tuna/beef, beans and flour keep pretty well and if you don’t already know how to make biscuits, it’s a great time to learn. Store and periodically rotate out 7 gallons of drinking water per person in your household. Cases of MREs are pretty cheap right now and are extremely packable if needed.

Buy and install a bidet so you don’t have to sleep on 1000 rolls of TP. Consider a small Jackery and a solar panel. You don’t need to run your fridge, just keep your phone and radios alive for a week if you had to.

Buy long distance radios. They are SO CHEAP on Amazon. Like $15 ea for pretty decent range. Get them for everybody in your family. Buy them for your buddies and program them. Radios are pretty fun rabbit hole to go down if you’re ready to get weird.

Put together some really good first aid kits. A big one for home. One in each car.

I would say that’s probably a pretty good start. The next tier is generators and antennas, vehicle loadouts, etc.

I’m gonna assume you have a couple 10rd mags loaded up, so that should be plenty.

We are way to far away for any kind of invasion or major offense other than a few terrorists one off attacks to the grid, water, food supply. What does hit us hard is bad inflation, gas shortages, and human stupidity when people get scared. My preps center around kit, guns and ammo, with a stock of food for about 1-2 weeks. However during COVID I did learn that you can't prepare for everything and you won't really know what you need until you need it.

Glad to get a chuckle! I always find it fun/interesting to see other people's approach or perspective. I've definitely got mine.

Well said! No weirdos (mostly) from where I sit. There are absolutely tiers to which ever system each individual implements when it comes to a potential apocalypse. Zombies, nuclear holocaust, cosmic collisions, biowarfare, alien invasions, Skynet, etc. are all viable and worth the discussion. Each precaution has its own focus and expertise. It comes down to an individuals risk assessment and how self-sufficient/recluse do they want to be? For how long?

No matter the precautions, I believe the path forward usually entails trusting others and working together towards a better, common goal. Which looks so naive and counterintuitive when reading over - lol I guess we are screwed.
