The best advice i will give you is this:

Buy an HK MR556a4 and be done with it.

Knights is not worth the coin.

Did that dros as a 2Azone manufactured single shot pistol?
How are you going to justify to law enforcement that it's NOT a KAC SR-15?
SSE got you around the problem of the DROS getting kicked back for it being a named AW, but the SSE won't get you around LE reading what's on the side of the receiver and charging you possession of an unregistered named assault weapon.
LE is not going to care about the 2Azone markings in the magwell that are likely covered up by your bolt-on plastic magwell.

They are re-engraved and per ATF it is legal when done by an out of state FFL. That said anyone who has one should always keep the DROS copy with them and be able to articulate why this is NOT a banned by name firearm anymore.

2A zone isn't the first to play the Knights game. CWS, GKY, Paran, and others have done it in the past. Not worth the headache.

While technically legal, it's also practically risky.
Get yourself prepaid legal representation if you are doing that.

You mean the internal engraving that's obscured by the magwell?
The LE will easily see that and totally understand what it means and not confuse the gun with an actual KAC SR-15 like the clear markings show.
Or maybe they will just arrest and sieze the evidence and let the DA sort it out.
Which LE you get is anyone's guess.

What does it enter the state as then? A Knights SR15 or is it re-manufactured out of state?

I have a few and they were all SSE as a 2a Zone SR-15 pistol lowers. Have had LEO look it over and said gtg just carry your paperwork but the 3 different agencies (Ontario PD, Burbank and Newport Beach PD) that looked at mine and asked to play with it at R66 the other day and I asked them about it banned by name and they said that’s news to their ears and showed them some Reddit threads and all said they were unaware and they really wouldn’t care if they saw it but they also said based off their rough interpretation of the laws that if they came across this on the streets and paperwork was being transported with it and separated from an upper than they wouldn’t even care. They kinda laughed at the stupid law except for the 1 hard ass from Ontario swat but everyone was more stoked on my KS-1 and gave glowing reviews. In exchange they did let me play with their FA toys including a MCX Virtus LVAW with only stipulation of using my own ammo and mags and vice versa when they all took a turn on my KS-1. Seems like I always get the seat guys after they’re done with their training always walking over to my private bay and watching me. Of course I get nervous but seems like they always stop by and ask to look at my builds and play with them.
