Suppressors are safety devices!!!! We should be required to have them and so should LEOs.

At the time of the passage of the NFA (1934), the concern was that hunters would use them for poaching.

The primary argument today is "public safety" in that suppressors make it harder to locate a shooter, which can hinder law enforcement response and make it more difficult for the public to identify the location of gunshots, which is debatable and to the best of my knowledge is not substantiated by empirical evidence. Suppressors are not even regulated in many European countries.

The way to defeat this law is to produce irrefutable evidence to counter the above assertion and then get the buy-in / support of law enforcement and even the medical community then challenge it in court if the government is unreceptive.

if 130 dbl is enough to not allow you to locate gun fire. Maybe its time to rethink your way to locate gunfire. btw 130 is louder than an police/emt siren. its air raid siren loud... and every one can still hear that from a range 5 miles city and 12 miles rual.

I agree so, not sure why all the grousing about suppressors when everyone who goes shooting wears hearing protection as it is. I wonder if it's mostly for the "cool" factor?

Now, the military is a different situation, the Corps has made suppressors virtually ubiquitous for the infantry because they dramatically improve intra-squad communications in combat situations.

If infantry can do it so can police. they need to stop being such babies about it. Its for public saftey. its like them being babies about body cams.

suppresor on handgun sucks for most uses yes they work on them but carrying it round aint as easy and so on.Rifles though are longer and you dont expect compact with most.

If i go to local public range quite a few run suppressed ar15s and they take the noise down to about 22lr levels.300black out seem to really shut the pop down though.Wouldnt mind picking one up for my 300 win mag though got a guy who makes them and says he can bring it down to around 22lr levels but after carrying rifle on an elk hunt last month not sure if ill want the extra weight,Mentioned they also soften the recoil as well

Even doubled up with plugs and muffs I have several rifles that will still make my ears ring and head hurt. Then there's shooting indoors where even 9mm is loud let alone other stuff. Suppressor would be amazing. I don't care what cops do I want them for myself.

I figure its a point to make for politicians. the police at least. Concessive force is known to cause head injuries. Head injuries are known to cause impulsive if not violent behavior. See many many many NFL players doing dumb impulsive shiot. Its why you wont ever see me with 50 bmg. even in vegas. A Study has shown training over multiple sessions with a 50 cal causes TBI protein markers to be raised after operation of a 50 cal. Basically your bigger badder guns may be giving you mini TBI.

I mean we can find a solutions for LEOs to carry.
