About 10 years ago while working security. I became close friends with an older coworker who was in his late 80s. One day he came to work and surprised me with his favorite rifle, a custom Sako .243 L57 that he ordered from Colt after coming out of the service. I didn't want to take it at first but he wouldn't take no for answer and said I would enjoy it as much as he did. He passed away about a year later and I quickly learned that this was a 1 MOA rifle.
During the COVID year, I shot the heck out of this thing and one day during cleaning. I popped open the magazine and the spring snapped. I told myself I could find a replacement and didn't realize that parts for this rifle were basically extinct. It took me 6 years of looking and a Canadian from up North to bail me out. I am happy to report that she is finally feeding correctly !
Canada has a large hunting community with older guns and people who are desperately trying to save them. It really sucks that their government is doing everything possible to try to destroy them. I know for a fact I would be pretty pissed if someone tried to take this Sako from me.
