I mean, being a member since 2007 I want to disagree…But I can’t. 100% spot on. They squeezed every ounce out of an archaic system when they were advised to upgrade way over a decade ago.

Even with all the sponsor money and memberships coming in it was not put back into the website until the host was no longer an option.

I can't believe the CNG rant continues. The site works perfectly, as far as access is concerned. They fixed at least that problem.
Why would I worry about their user stats? The off topic section is as non-nonsensical as it's always been.
There is no requirement to visit the site. Is there?
The market place is alive and well, that's all I care for.

The classifieds have always been like that. You can use the search feature, put in your criteria and posts will pop up. Works every time.
Of course is sellers don't include the relevant info, you won't get it.

This is ultimately why CAguns became popular, we don't blame the user or have them bend to make the system work. It should just work.

I for one like to browse and see what folks are selling. It's not that I am buying a new gun every week. So, it doesn't matter where they are located.

At the same tolken, all the garbage here is rolled out in plain view. Makes it hard to filter through and find actual relevant & useful info.

You should see how many topics they have on this site over there..

The level of content here is high enough now where we are able to stand on our own two feet and begin to really expand. You can pick one thread to represent how to content is, but zooming out its easy to see we have a good amount of content now.

The quality is much higher now too, all by design and will continue to improve over time.

Nobody questions whether the site works or not, it's the content of the site and how it's broken down.

Do you know they have an open posts now about this site? Actually multiple threads about this site.. I never saw anyone mention to try to stop them from talking about this site, that's ok. I can tell you they have waaaay more people talking about this site than vice versa.

Unless you log on daily, you’re going to see the same ads again and again. Sellers who don’t log on daily will have their ads buried beneath a hundred bumps. There is no gun I want badly enough to get me to wade through hundreds of ads per day. I’d sooner join Tik Tok.

No, I haven't seen that "post". It's not what I am looking for in a forum of like-minded folks, aka friends of firearms or ambitious shooting competitors.
But, I believe you. CalGuns has it's share of knuckleheads. It's not the site's fault. They definitely fixed the technical side of it. Not that I have a super computer. It works every time I click, instantly. I like it. I can open a thread and close it just as quickly, if I don't like what I see.

I wanted calguns to fail to a point where it forces Kes' hand to hire someone to fix it. We got to that point and now he's hired a professional to look after the site. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you get a harsh enough wakeup call and make a drastic change for the better. The most frustrating part of the calguns struggle was Kes' refusal to accept donations and professional help when it was obvious to everyone else that fixing the site was way beyond him.

I'm happy to see the site working again. We'll see if the brains return.
