Sheriff Luna and Chief McDonnell are both carrying 1911's.
Stainless, beavertail,s ambi safeties exteneded mag wells, fixed sights.

I believe LAPD issues the FN 509 LE but has a list of approved handguns you can choose to carry if you buy it on your own. I bet he has a Wilson BBQ special.

My BIL is a DA investigator, his DA office issues gen 5 Glocks but he carries a 9mm 1911 since the allow him to carry what he likes.

Never understood this, and I know it was a more common sentiment at the old CG that people loved to foster. If CA is so sh*tty, why would you voluntarily live under an "overlord" or subject yourself to the rule of law being administered by their "puppets". Seems like you're basically acknowledging that you're a sheep. Plenty of places to move to.

Yes, it is fun. I will always use any angle available to go after a politician, no matter what side they are on. Not only are these chiefs/sheriffs insulting to a gun platform, they are an insult to the sex toy industry as well, because it is obvious that a latex stand-in has more value. Remember that these are the ones who have denied our 2A rights forever.

Have you met either? All politics aside, I know Jim and he’s a decent guy. He can also shoot. FWIW, it’s not easy to get 1911 qualified in the LAPD.

I have been to the LAPD training camp in the Valley (the shoot houses are pretty cool) and know many of the trainers there use Stacatos. In my old PD, there was a mix of Glocks, Sigs and M&Ps.

It’s great that he is a “decent guy and can also shoot”, but his department (and by extension himself) has for decades kept ordinary citizens from having the most efficient means to protect themselves and their families when in any other place than inside their homes. The recent issuance of CCW permits (an extraordinarily slow process) to the citizens of Los Angeles has ONLY occurred because a United States Supreme Court ruling has FORCED them into action. If either the chief of police or the sheriff really gave two shtis about it, you would hear a lot more from them regarding such. They have upheld the old status quo to the extent they could with endless delays and foot dragging, there is no denying of that. Other appointed chiefs and elected sheriffs have done a much better job on this, it is time they do the same.

Of course they do.

But we can’t unless we buy one from an LEO at an obscenely inflated price.

You guys should stop trying to deify the very tyrants who gladly keep the general public from buying the same guns that people in most of the rest of the country can with nary a concern. If they can carve out an exemption for themselves, they’ll throw you under the bus so fast you won’t know what happened.

People have jobs and family obligations that preclude them from moving, so many of us are locked into a state that has, in the last few decades, closed around us and battered us with laws that we disagree with.

So, colossians323, I’m sure you’re enjoying your place in Idaho, or wherever the hell it is, but there’s no irony in my post. Gun owners in California are no more puppets than you are in Idaho. We just have different sets of rules to follow. Rules, I might add, that those who make up the thin blue line are more than happy to help impose upon us.

Nope, it's not just rules, its freedom outside of California. Why do people call me up all the time to bring them back this item that can't be sent to CA or that item that can't be sent to CA? I don't know, that sounds like a lack of liberty to me?
Why do people pay all the fees associated with lumber, paint, tires, mattresses, etc etc? Seems like a lack of liberty to me, not rules.
Why do people pay a nickel for a bottle or a can to drink their favorite beer, soda, or water? Do they get that nickel back when they recycle?
Why do people pay to have the 11% tax, or ammo background check to enjoy their constitutional rights?

Where does all the money go?
It goes to buy shiny shackles for everyone who keeps paying for it.

Most everyone that wants to leave, can leave.

Leaving takes courage and most people don't have courage to do so.
Its not easy to uproot everything you know and start over, but that is where courage comes in.

Many don't want to leave, because they enjoy the high tax rate and the insane commie stoopid laws they are constantly passing (forget the gun laws).

FTR, I didn't leave for a hobby, left for sanity. When you are involved with multiple city and state governmental employees and you have no recourse, it really wakes you up to how bad it is in California.

There is no mistake that such a small single digit percentage fought the brits for liberty. Only a few had courage.
