Fremont resident uses intruder’s gun to kill teen suspect, police say​

(KRON4) — A Fremont resident who fought with armed home invaders on Friday grabbed a suspect’s firearm and used it to fatally shoot the burglar, according to police.

Officers responded to the shooting around 12:12 p.m. at an apartment on San Pedro Drive. Fremont Police Department investigators said two teenagers forced their way into the home and assaulted two residents.

“During a struggle, one occupant gained control of the suspect’s firearm and fired it towards them, fatally wounding one of the suspects,” Fremont PD wrote. The suspect who was shot succumbed to his injuries at a local trauma center.

The second suspect attempted to flee the area but was located and arrested, authorities said. He was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center for residential burglary and felony assault with a semiautomatic firearm.

The two residents suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the attack, according to police.

I got outta that place a long time ago. In the before time it was quiet and peaceful. What I like to think of as normal. It was neat. There were always issues, like any place. It just kept getting different in a bad way. My family has been in the various districts of Fremont since the 1850s. It sucks, we bailed. It got ruined. None of us give a about going back. To what? A bunch of bigots. In the before-time, no-one gave a about ethnicity. Dips. Nobody can't even F-ing drive there, anymore. These people can't even throw a ball, rock, anything demonstrating that they've been outside...

It's little India and yeah extremely bad drivers, I saw horrific wrecks constantly on my moto

When I was still living there, trouble started to find good/good(ish) people minding their own business. Mission San Jose, Irvington, Warm Springs, and even Niles (districts in Fremont) used to be civilized. The Gawenator's right, nowadays a big threat is the horrific drivers. You can be heading down a boulevard and someone parked for no reason in the shoulder will pull right out in front of you. You'll be going 50 mph and they will be going 3. Same with Pleasanton. So you have to defend yourself with defensive driving. A good assumption is if you think someone is going to do something stupid, they will. The bad drivers are just irrational but you can predict their idiocy sometimes, with experience. You might want to pause a little bit at stoplights when they turn green., looking both ways right before you get the green light. I've almost been taken out by people running lights. And don't be surprised if people are rude to those with a lesser amount of melanin content in their skin and round eyes. If you're in sales you might be considered a member of a lower caste, which is hard to stomach. The bartering gets irritating, too. A lot of newcomers used to be buffered by those who have been in the country awhile, so their children would integrate more (and become "Americanized"). Now newcomers are much more concentrated. It's sad and disappointing because I was used to my Indian, Middle Eastern, and Chinese friends being easy to get along with. Don't get me wrong, there are still most excellent people of all sorts of ancestry. Per capita, it's just different now.
