Both of my non-OR Shadows are cut by Drew @ Vigilante (RMR). Both of my Shadows see more rounds in a week through them then most guys on here shoot in a year. Both slides are fine and dandy.

I have been thinking for a while to cut slide on my cz75b to accommodate for optics... The thing that keeps me back is the fact that cz does not make them anymore.... kind of feels wrong to screw with classic....
What do you think?

I mean, it’s a CZ 75b, not a GI 1911 that grandpa brought home from the great wars.

What I’m getting at is they made a ton of these and there is no historical value. If you like your gun and want an optic just do it. Or get a second slide from eBay as suggested to have cut.

I cut p-01 and sp-01. No regrets
I also ported p-01, which I do regret and bought new barrel for it.
75b slides pop up on eBay and gunbroker quite often. I’d say buy another slide, like many suggested , and have at it

I’ve been an iron sight guy for a long time. If you enjoy shooting this gun a red dot will likely make it more fun. I admit that I’m a bit jaded about it because I went overboard and messed up an amazing pistol. An optic cut won’t likely mess up the pistol’s function according to some folks here who have actually done it. Your choice at the end of the day and you can always buy a replacement slide if you don’t love it.

Cut it.. I’ve always wondered why people like to keep things in new condition for the next owner. Why not enjoy it yourself?
You could buy another slide, and just keep the other as a paper weight that will never get used again… or just let the next owner buy another slide, and you’re not sitting on that expensive paper weight

To the original poster. At first I felt about how much I like shooting irons so I bought another slide for my 75Bsa and had CZC machine it for their mounting plate. I have never once put the iron sight back on to shoot. I’m a dot guy now. Then I got another BSA and again I just had CZC machine it for their plate…but also bought their “cap” that screws in place of the machined in red dot plate that when mounted mimics the factory slide and allows you to mount a Heine rear sight just as OEM. Yup o like Heine sights also!! And guess what I’ve never mounted that cover plate with a Heinie sight once also. I’ve now had CZC plates on many of my CZs. Look up the CZ Custom web site and look at them. The bigger difference you will be faced with will be do I want to remove the Firing Pin Block system to mount the plate lower or do you want to leave the FPB system that requires the plate to be slightly higher vs the none. Also know their plate system is dove tailed into the slide, uses two larger screw to mount the plate , AND the extractor pin passes through the plate into the slide so that plate does not ever move. The same thing with the iron sight cap/cover so a zeroed rear sight will ALWAYS keep the zero because again the extractor pin passes through it. On my SP01 I chose maintaining using the FPB of the production class rule. Can’t tell the difference between the lowest plate mount and the system above the FPB pin for the plate. I laugh all the time about people talking about how much higher a plate mount vs a direct mount…. Remember when you mount a RDS like say a RMR and then mount a 507 comp because of that large window the “dot” to the top of the slide is higher (with a 507 comp) than the smaller windowed RMR. Not many people even say a word about that .

So cut it and get a CZC red dot plate machined into your OEM slide at the height to keep the firing pin block intact..AND buy a rear sight mountable cover/plate. Call Stuart at CZC and you won’t be disappointed even slightly. Now the one thing the CZC plate does not allow for is a co witness setup.
I’ve never needed it so I don’t miss it ever.

I stand here to correct myself on my above post.

I don’t think you can mount the “lowest” cut for the CZC rds plate by eliminating the FPB system role pin. The firing pin is held in the slide on the 75b by that pin. The shadow style slides have a plate that holds the firing pin in at the rear of the firing pin where the hammer makes contacts. Sorry. I only have 2 firing pin blocked CZs with the mounting plates to fit production class. The others are shadow slides and can be cut pretty low.

I have been meaning to call Stuart . I’ll ask but if I remember correctly they can work on “your gun/parts” same as usually….but I think the parts buying is still a question to me. Canik is the same way. They will sell you the parts but they have to ship to a FFL for CA. I’m pretty sure that is a “company” rule vs a “California “ rule. Can’t blame companies for covering their butts because California is a pain. Personally I don’t like the FFL close to me and don’t like giving them money if I can help it .

Heard only good things about Vigilante. I , personally , used Wager three times to cut for RMSc footprint and one more time to extract broken 6/32 screw no one else wanted to touch. They also re-threaded mounting holes to M4. Super quick turnaround every single time, bonus point they were one of the first ones to support CA customers.
On downside their CZ 75 series cuts are limited to direct RMSc and RMR with plate (sometimes not in stock), and they don’t do coating just for the cut are unlike Vigilante.

Yeah wager has always been good, cheap and fast. Not sure why they don't do DPP on CZs because it's essentially the same as RMSc just a bit bigger footprint. Getting a direct mill is always preferred if you like the optics that will fit on DPP.

yeah definitely just a "company" rule, on the one hand I don't blame them but on the other there are plenty of small companies shipping parts here under AB1263, the compliance is annoying but it's fairly simple. One FFL near me charges 25 per box of parts to get shipped to them, another charges 50. Having a customer sign a form and ship signature delivery isn't hard and it's definitely lost them business to not do it.

Do it. With a 75B, you can keep your rear sight should you choose. Your extractor pin will get shortened so you will need to cut replacement pins in the future but that's a nuisance, not an issue.

Don't do it. Same situation with me, sent out my PO-1 for an optic cut, it had a Heine straight eight originally and it cannot be cut without loosing the rear sight and it has to have an optic plate; I was so glad that I did noy proceed with it, otherwise I would have desecrated a classic.

Who did you send it to? I have CZ Custom sights on mine and got it milled leaving the rear sight on. I’ve got 11k through the pistol, 3k with the optic . I’ve taken classes and competed with it, no issues. I have beaten the crap out of it and it still works.
