Question Travel rifle with quick detach barrel and stock

I hate traveling with bulk an I’m looking to build a travel/breakdown AR-15.

Looking at the Stern Defense RAB-AD stock and the Cry Havoc QRB.

This would be a training rifle that I could more easily travel with.

My concerns are compliance and reliability with a setup like this and I’d appreciate any experience or insight.

Honestly, just break the upper and lower man, practice that and its quick as any other “qd” method but more reliable.

I’ve considered a side by side shotgun for travel so I have more than just a pistol. Haven’t gotten around to it.

I have a Glock 19 on my permit and a PCC that uses the same mags. Total length is less than 36*. Never felt the need to make it any shorter for travel but could remove the takedown pins if needed.

Yup a glock and Ruger PCC backpacker stock with a glock magwell are the best Ive come across so far.

While a PCC will give you more giddy up out of a 9mm, If your going to tote a rifle that has the same length/weight I'd recommend a 5.56, .300 or 7.62x39 as a starting point. When all this sillness of CA AWB gets gorilla pimped slapped by SCOTUS in 2027 a foldable AK, JACKL, BRN 180 for a travel rig would be the jammy.

True, but Im thinking convenience and weight. 1 type of mag, 1 type of round, equals more ammo carried. During my training sessions I put all “10”rounds in the same 6 inch pattern at 100 yards, plenty of “back the f up warning” if you get near when the zombies get out… lol.

Yeah no doubt good points and I do love the Ruger PCC using Glock mags. Just be sure not to over overzealously slam the mags into the mag well. Plenty of people have done that and bent to ejector pin and self inducing failures to eject problems.

Maybe a decade ago, Michael Bane on one of his shows built a 50 state compliant break down rifle. He chose a take apart Browning BLR in .223. Another option that comes to mind is a Wild West Guns take apart lever action (there are some commercially available versions out there but I forget who makes them).
