As I have mentioned in the past. I love the BG 2.0 CC that I have. It is a dirty gun with the comp. It shoots hot because of how slim it is. But it shoots like magic considering the size. The one issue we had was ammo compatability. It hates PMC.
HOWEVER, I just saw a video which suggest the issue may be neither the ammo nor the gun!!

My wife loves RDO’s and insist on them for all her guns. So we have the Gideon Pebble installed.

The most recent video from Honest Outlaw demonstrated identical failures with his BG 2.0 with an EPS optic. He had major issues that never happened with his BG 2.0 and BG 2.0 CC without optic. He postulates it has to do with the fact that optic increases weight of the slide by more 15%.

I think he could be right!!!

I’ve tested over a dozen BG 2.0s. A mix of the standard and CC versions and with and without optics. Most of them new, some of them broken in. I’ve also got ~ 3k+ rounds through my personal carry comp at this point which has a direct milled vortex defender CCW and some other minor modifications done to it to improve it in small ways.

I found no difference between the optic or not as long as you kept the same recoil spring weight and were shooting appropriately hot ammo.

Which I kind of recommend for defensive rounds anyways as the ballistics on .380 out of a short barrel can be hit or miss for some more common ammo types like federal HST as to penetration and reliable expansion.

I don’t see the point of running an optic on the BG2.0. That’s just my $.02

I have 3400 rounds through mine with only 1 FTF with Winchester Flat Nose.

It’s chewed up and spit out everything I’ve fed it.

My BG2.0 CC with the Gideon Pebble has been flawless through ~700 rounds of 95 grain Blazer. I can't wait for this little beast to be on my CCW permit.

At least for me, I don’t pocket carry. It’s my gun when I don’t want to or can’t otherwise carry a gun. Very easy to deep conceal AIWB and an optic adds minimal bulk for massively improved capability at distances outside what it would normally operate at with iron sights alone, ease of remaining target focused, etc.

If someone was treating this as a pocket pistol though, I’d agree it’s a snag point.

When I’m not carrying the BG though it’s 99% a compact 2011, so there’s not a ton of in between for me.

If you have that many problems, why not take the optic off and see how it does?
I wonder if the Viridian is lighter and might help. 🤔

I apologize if this is considered hijacking What ammo do you prefer over HST? I have an LCP Max thinking of switching the BG2. My mag loading is 1st 2 fmj round nose then 2 jacketed hollow points alternating till the mag is loaded. FMJ round nose whatever I have and mostly Gold Dot for the hollow points. I have to pocket carry almost 365 days a year (cargo shorts summer and jeans rest of the year).

I dislike FMJ as in many tests it still over penetrates but obviously doesn’t expand.

Trigger bar philosopher on YouTube has some pretty extensive testing and videos on his methodology to try to simulate organic targets complete with chrono readings and organic and clear ballistic gel tests with stand in mediums for barriers/clothing/bones).

I’ve found his testing to be accurate and would recommend underwood XTP (+P version especially for the carry comp given you’re making use of the extra gas at least) or Federal Hydra-shok Deep. HST does okay, but it’s not as consistent as the other two and I got some feeding issues from some of the BG 2.0s I tested despite some of them having polished dual ramps and being well broken in.

FYI. Sorry about all the nasty typos in that message. I was writing it quickly between clients. the client came early so I sent before proof reading. I have a feeling @Wolkenflieger had a seizure after trying to read it.

We mainly had issue with PMC where the bullet would get jammed in chamber. Very hard to rack the slide and extract. But would also have soft primer strikes. Only PMC so far. S&B and Winchester all good.

You are right. The real test would be to take the optic off. Very well could still be barrel tolerance and QC.

Completely different platform.

I love the BG and haven’t decided yet if I will ever have it on my CCW in the future. The trigger is insanely light TBH.

I have a california bg 2.0 with a low serial number. I'm at 300 rounds through. It chokes on all hollow points and flat nose. It loves blazer brass round nose so far. I'm hoping it will become less finicky soon. But not happy so far....I may polish the 2 piece feed ramp.

No optic and no comp.

So what you’re saying is it’s the LCI and mag disco fault..

I run the base model cali as well with about 1k rounds of flat nose with no issues.
