How hard is the mag disconnect to remove on a 1-10? I have done a lot of mechanical work, even precise little gears and stuff on a Porsche 944 but I've never changed a gun part out other than optics and removing the P320 MD

How hard is the mag disconnect to remove on a 1-10? I have done a lot of mechanical work, even precise little gears and stuff on a Porsche 944 but I've never changed a gun part out other than optics and removing the P320 MD

I'd say removing the mag disco is about a 6.5 (with a CGW decocker pro package being a 9.6). Here's a Walther PDP disassembly video. You would not need to completely break it down like this video does. After removing the trigger you can pull on the lever (idk what the part connected to the cam is called) and rotate the cam. After it comes apart the cam falls out. The only difficult part of the process is removing the slide stop. If it's never been off before, you've got to pound it with extreme force.

I have no idea if a gunsmith is allowed to remove it but my guess is yes. Since they overcharge for anything you don't want to do, I'd say $160? In my opinion it's not worth the hassle of removing the mag disco unless you are also installing the DPT.

I had the same experience. I was trying to send it to a friend in AZ but it wouldn't ship because my billing address is CA. Walther won't ship to CA either. I couldn't get them to send me a take down latch. How can you not supply the parts to keep your firearms functioning if you're selling firearms in CA?

It's weird how the manufacturers are the ones being the biggest sticklers over these new laws, I can only assume it's because of the liability language in the new laws and the history of Ca threatening to sue manufacturers. At the end of the day I don't think they care that much, the PDPs seem to be selling so they are just being lazy

Bizarrely Walther shipped me the free optics plate for my Q5 about a month ago, somehow I slipped through the cracks.

I got my free optic plate and C&H optic they were given away with the purchase of a PDP a few months ago but try to purchase anything else and it's a no go.

Yes you get to choose one plate that will work for the optic of your choice and it will be sent to your house.

I’m glad I didn’t read this prior to buying and shooting my PDP 4.5. I think the trigger is very good as is, and I don’t need to make it a race gun with a “faster” trigger. I can’t outshoot this pistol as is, so I will just wait to think about replacing my recoil spring until around 5000 rounds.

It’s snappy, but my doubles are about as fast as usual the last time I was timed with it.

Yeah this is really making me start to think about ranking different manufacturers and companies based on how much they’re willing to do for us in CA. I totally understand the hesitation, but the laws are clear and it doesn’t take more than a grand or so for a small company to consult a lawyer to determine how to be compliant. If you’re a large company and you aren’t selling to CA I consider that an anti-2A stance. There is no excuse. You can easily implement policies to sell to us legally and while YES it costs more, they can pass that cost on to the consumer.

There is no reason that a small company should not be mailing GRIP PANELS to CA. Just charge the extra shipping cost and make us email an id photo. This is not difficult. CA is a big market, and if a company decides to say “F- it” I think
that’s a dumb business decision, but more importantly it shows a lack of principle.

Don’t give me that BS about “we have employees with families to feed” etc… if giant companies like midway and others who have internal counsel have decided they can ship here if we give ID and they ship signature/ID required, small
companies can do the same. There is no extra risk… if anyone is going to be targeted it’s going to be a big distributor. Honestly it’s just lazy and shameful behavior.

I deal with a lot of legal and regulatory compliance issues for work, and this is small potatoes even for a mom and pop shop. This is made evident by the EXCELLENT smaller companies who are supporting us and shipping parts here. F- the rest and this will be remembered

I think it's about 25% they are afraid of getting in a lawsuit 25 % they don't want to deal with it and 50% they are trying to punish us because they think we voted for it and we should be fighting harder to change it. Either way F- those companies and thankfully we are the largest state so we still have a huge market and I would guess a lot of those folks will eventually come around. It's really only the obscure stuff that has been a pain but I happen to like obscure stuff so it is super annoying and inevitably I just have to pay more. Like I ordered a safety from Italy last month because I couldn't find it here, funny enough it came in like a week and they did not check ID lol.

Yeah it’s not as though we can’t get around it. There are many ways it just costs a little extra $ and is a pain. Agree, especially if it’s that 50%, F- those companies I am keeping a list and have sent a handful of well intentioned and thought out emails to the ones I actually care about imploring them to do the right thing.

They’re like the locals who supported a hostile occupying regime in wartime. I wouldn’t advocate for cutting their hair and branding them whores once we get our rights back, but I sure as hell an not giving them my money
