Walther Photo Thread

Got a Final Edition variant, also in ODG, the *best color*! Also the only striker pistol own, but it's an honorary DA/SA

The ODG frame is slick for the FE, but I wish they upgraded the grip texture to the PDP.

Nerding out below for the purists and beginners:
Also want to clarify the P99 is true DA/SA (not honorary). When decocked, the long heavy first trigger pull both cocks the striker and releases it (2 actions in the pull (cocking and releasing) = Double Action). When the slide cycles, the striker is pre-cocked, so the subsequent trigger pull only releases it (1 action in the pull (releasing) = Single Action). This continues until the pistol is decocked. This is the same function as a hammer fired DA/SA. The difference is on hammer-fired, the hammer is cocked/released, the hammer impacts a firing pin, and the firing pin ignites the primer in the round ... and on the P99 (and SW99 + TP9DA) the striker is cocked/released and the striker ignites the primer in the round.

FWIW, It's actually a more efficient system than hammer-fired because there are only 2 components (trigger, striker) instead of 3 (trigger, hammer, firing pin).

Wow, this thread delivers!! @32383 that TPH is awesome!!

OK, I dug up another target model: Walther GSP-500 in 22LR with the 32 WC conversion kit and LH grips (I also have a set of RH for my weird friends).

This is a descendant of the OSP I posted earlier, though it hasn’t had the total domination of the OSP. (Pardini is giving Walther a run for their money, haha!!)

Check out that grouping at 25 meters!!

I have an Earl’s optic mount on it (it replaces the rear iron sight). I have an Ultra Dot for it, but can’t seem to find it, haha!!

Good news: The CADOJ will finally be updating the Olympic Pistol exemption list for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Falls under CPC 30515 (c) & (d)(4). Hoping to see the Walther SSP-E added!!

They call it an evolution, but the P99 gets far and away the most use.
It’s soooo good. 😭

Just wish they could figure out a way to relocate the decocker to allow for an optic.

(I actually ran a dovetail rmr mount a few years back but the optic just sits wayyyy too high for my liking.)

+1 ... Add an Echelon-style optics cut, move the decocker to the side so it wedges in to release the striker rather than pushing straight down, add PDP grip texture, PPQ slide design, paddle mag release. Take all my money.

1. add PDP grip texture, 2. paddle mag release.
1. It's weird. Normally, I like an incredibly aggressive grip texture (à la PDP)--but the ergonomics are so good on the P99 that it doesn't really affect me as much you would think. But, yeah, it would be really interesting to see that P99/PDP combo.

2. Your P99 has a paddle mag release so I'm guessing you mean "keep it" on the Frankenstein 99 we're imagining?

It didn't bother me for the longest in isolation, but one day at the range I went back and forth on some drills to figure whether I would add the PDP to my carry rotation ... after about 30 minutes of alternating, the difference really hit me. Added the talon grips after that.

Good call. Yeah. KEEP the paddle mag. I tried to think of a derivative name like "P27" but it doesn't sound as iconic as P99. I think the best we can do is "PD99."

P9DP might work (The 9-D sounds like 90).

If they could figure out a way to get the decocker next to the striker indicator / backplate (like the HK P30j--making space for the optic cut--gat damn.
