I recently had an excellent PPT experience with LA Firearm Supplies, also on Magnolia Blvd. Previously did PPTs at Guns Direct which is solid, but they seem to be pretty busy now. Was turned away from Guns Direct because they stop PPTs after a certain time in the afternoon, and went down the street to LA Firearm supplies and was taken care of.
Oh yeah forgot about that. They don’t do ppt after 330pm or something at guns direct. Again, i literally did a 8 min PPT there once. Yes it helps i have a CCW and was the purchaser, but still. LIGHTNING fast. I avoid being in Burbank in the afternoon due to traffic personally so doesn’t affect me. Also the shops tend to be busier then. I like hitting them right when they open. After rush hour and usually not busy yet. In the afternoon all the shops on magnolia are busier and you can end up waiting quite a bit.
Burbank Ammo and Guns probably has the best window shopping and has a SOLID consignment section. They also usually have some nice high end 1911s too. Les Baer, nighthawk etc. they get busy tho fast and it’s a crowded shop with that big ammo section and it’s literally floor to ceiling guns.
Yeah did a PPT at LA Firearm supplies recently. They were chill, not a lot to window shop tho
OTHER NON BURBANK EXPERIENCES
Capital Tactical in ?Hawthorne? LA South Bay Area. Roomy shop. Ok window shopping usually not very busy. I think they also dont do PPT after 330pm. But nice guys.
Have done PPT at 2azone in upland several times. Highly recommend making an appointment. They get busy. Also they got cool stuff since they are also a ffl07. Lots of 2011s to shop. Pistol HK MP5 variants. AR pistols etc. would avoid their consignment section. WAY overpriced.
Ammo Bros Cerritos. Yes they do them. But DAMN turner’s like slowness. Like I couldn’t tell what was going on and taking so long. Giant store tho plenty to look at and they seem to be on the front end of knowing what’s coming to the roster etc. In general i dont wanna go there again.
Fowler’s Gun Room somewhere near Anaheim. The times ive been there not busy and easy to do a PPT. Reasonably efficient. They have a solid reloading section, and definitely get some cool guns in (check their insta feed)
On the west side of LA there’s pretty much only one FFL01 left. Beverly Hills Guns. It’s a one man show so HIGHLY recommend making an appointment on his website and pre populating your info by “registering” on his website. Makes things much faster. He’s mostly a concierge transfer guy but will do PPTs. Also if you are on the Westside of LA he will help you walk your way through a CCW. Again MAKE an appointment cause some of his clients…..they take forever and it’s only him. He has some nice couches to wait on but there’s really nothing to window shop etc. although nice view out his office (it’s literally an office in an office building)
Recently when ive been up at Oaktree in Santa Clarita there hasn’t been anyone in line so doing a PPT there a couple times relatively recently has been easy but in the past it’s been like….super long waits. They aren’t Turner’s level slow at doing them, but they aren’t very fast. I would allow 45 min once you start. Also they wont do C&R transfers (ie let you take it home same day if you have
FFL03 and COE) which was super annoying once.
On Target down in Laguna Niguel/Lake Forest area south OC I’ve done several PPTs. Very nice about it. What’s cool is they are also a gun range so after you pick up, wander over to the range, give the gun a quick cleaning/go over and try it out! They also tend to have a solid consignment section and they honor C&R licenses
on ppt". Buy some ammo, a mag or two. Support the local guys
