What are the odds Bass Pro will honor FFL03+COE 10 day wait exemption?

The one in Rocklin does not honor it. Maybe other locations in CA do but I doubt it. They had no used guns there, and will not buy used guns.

In the future if I'm ever shopping at the Cabelas in Reno I'll see if they ship to other FFLS and just eat the shipping cost. My usual guy only charges me like 10 bucks for transfers (rounds up dros cost to 50). 90 min drive to Bass Pro, 4 hours in store, 90 min drive back... and I'll have to repeat this garbage again in ELEVEN days. Not doing this again.

I guess I'm confused. If you're not shopping used, how would C&R + COE even apply? You can't use a C&R + COE to avoid the 10 day wait on anything that isn't C&R.

I bought from the Cabelas in Reno where they should've just released it to my ffl03 without a background check. Instead they shipped it to a Bass Pro in California. The Bass Pro did not have any used guns besides mine, the one that was shipped there from Cabelas. They would not honor the ffl03+coe wait exemption for a c&r firearm.

Thanks for the clarification. I misunderstood your other post, I thought you meant you don't buy used guns. I see now you meant that BP doesn't.

The issue with the ten day wait exemption for CR transfers is that the software bass pro uses doesn't have the exemption baked in. For example, they will make you fill out a 4473, then for a normal transaction the software will automatically let that form be completed after 11 days have passed. The only kind of transaction that the software will let the employee complete the 4473 same day is a same day peace officer transfer with letter from head of department. Even if the employee knew every penal code and rule they literally can't do anything about how quickly they can transfer the gun.

I know sportsman warehouse won’t honor it. I was told they have no way of confirming the firearm is an c&r; even if it’s just a Norinco sks. Corporate policy……..

Sportsmans honored it for me doing a PPT on an Arisaka Type 99, Turners honored it for a Beretta M1934, Al's Guns and Gear in Corona honored it for a Walther P38

Lol, last time I did a C&R transaction at my local turners, it took over 3 hours (not including waiting in line), and I had to teach the guy how to do my paperwork. He had apparently been working there for 13 years...

This varies by location. I can tell you for a fact, communication is horrible at that company, training is non-existent, and 99% of the people they hire have never touched a gun before. Unfortunately that translates to many of their locations having no idea what a C&R even is, let alone what it's for. I used mine there recently for a 3 in 30 exemption, they weren't even aware that was in effect (this was last week, a month after that law went into effect).

I must have been lucky, the one in Rancho Cordova the guys were surprising cool and talking to me about guns and I had no issues with the DROS process or picking things up. He was even checking out my CCW

Sounds like they are better staffed there. I was the only one in line and it was still a 45 minute transaction. At this point I try to avoid the big box stores at all costs, even if it costs me a little more. Just ain't worth the headache, hassle, or frustration.
