What hammer fired handgun would you buy for around $1,000

I picked up both a P226 Mk25 and a Beretta M9A1 in the last few months. Took both out to matches as the first shots through the gun, I love the SIG for what it is but the M9A1 was a much better shooting gun for me. DA pull was not bad, reset was much better on SA and the sights were much more conducive for shooting (after I blacked out the rears with Sharpie) than the 226. For a hammer fired gun in the $1000 range I'd go for an M9 of some sort, or a Springfield Loaded in either .45 or 9MM if you were looking for a dedicated single action gun.

Wow the reset is atrocious on the M9 compared to a MK25 with factory SRT

I had the SRT installed and it's definitely much better than OEM. I don't usually "notice" reset if that makes sense, as I switch a lot between guns/reset in recoil like people should be doing - but in the Mk25's case the reset was very noticeable during the shot process out of the box. It was not that way with my M9

I believe the P226 Nitron is the base model and the Extreme is comparable to a Scorpion, but in black and sans the beaver tail.
It comes with the G10 grips (which he removed for the old school not as good military grips lol) and a SRT which I think costs like $60?

They sell for around $800 per recently sold listings. And this one again doesn’t even have the grips and it’s the CA roster model so he took deceptive pics to try and hide that

I realized my wording is a little confusing - did you mean switching between guns often? Or resetting in recoil?

Switching between guns often, I know people have recommended sticking to one gun (or at least one platform), so I was curious why you suggest the opposite

Curious where you see recently sold Extremes for around $800...looks to be market priced. I just went through our classifieds for the past year and came up with none. The pics look good for showing condition and the listing states "On Roster" so obviously with LCI & MD. Grips are highly subjective to personal preference and easily changed if needed. Also, many prefer internal components (such as SRT) to be factory installed thus covered by Sigs' famous lifetime warranty.
