Same here. USPS is reasonably fast (a few days west coast, half dozen days across the country), and absolutely reliable. Haven't had anything lost on the postal service in many years.

In contrast, UPS and FedEx have rare delivery failures. Maybe one in a hundred. Amazon is a little less reliable, but there it really depends on training the delivery drivers: we live in a rural and mountainous area with gated roads, so things like "leaving the package on the front porch" doesn't work, and we've had to train our delivery drivers (with signs and occasional personal interaction) where to leave packages. And that our road's parcel delivery box is not useful for other side streets that are a mile or two away.

The delivery service that is really awful is OnTrac.
 
My USPS has been ok, it was UPS that gave me anxiety last week for a package containing one of my pistols that was sent off to a gunsmith for trigger work.

From Cali, it went to TX, arrived at a Post Office literally 2 miles from the Gunsmith. From there it suddenly went to Oklahoma where it spent 2 days touring around that State before heading back to TX, and finally arriving to the gunsmith 5 days late.

It wasn't fun watching my gun, of all things, being loaded on and off several different trucks and facilities.
 
I've had a few packages make it here to a PO in Los Angeles, only to be shipped to another city before coming back to LA and then on to my local PO. Makes you wonder..........
 
That's the legacy of Louis DeJoy. Just when you thought the USPS couldn't get more fouled up, along came Louis. This is part of the plan by the administration to make a case for privatizing the USPS, enriching the already wealthy and destroying the public post office. Ben Franklin is spinning in his grave.

Calls & chats for two days they still couldn't fix it, nor would the system or the CSR let me change the delivery date of either item or cancel it. "Just refuse it when they show up" they said. "Is that right"

Costco took my order while I was arguing (via chat) with Amazon & delivers tomorrow and takes the old one at the same visit. F- Amazon.

We get on average 3 - 4 packages a day delivered from Amazon. Been shopping with them since 1995 and as I recall we've only ever had one package go astray and they replaced it within 24 hours. VERY glad I bought their stock during their IPO in '97 for $18 a share!
 
I have a box that is now for a month going from Tucson Az.to Santa Clarita Ca. hub and back over and over. Just a joke to track now. sender is more upset that I am.

My theory in these cases is that the package or letter didn't actually travel that path, but that the tracking information is simply wrong. We've all seen cases on the internet where a package is on the west coast, 5 minutes later on the east coast, 10 minutes later at Chicago airport, and then back on the west coast. That makes all the tracking information seem somewhat suspect.

I'm of the view a lot (maybe all) of delivery success/not hinges on where you are on the route.

Yeah, we really need to fight to protect the postal service; just imagine how much WORSE the other services will get without its competition.
