What will you buy before 11% comes?

Currently I have a Mini-14 and 2 AR lowers I am going to start the transfer on tomorrow (Im a FFL03+COE, so can do multiples).

I currently have an M1 Garand on order from the CMP, but I doubt it will be here before July 1 (FFL03s + COEs can take home the same day, since its older than 50 years), it would be amazing if it arrives before 7/1 however, but am fully expecting to get hit with the tax on it, $150.

Those will be my last guns for a while. Post tax, I am probably going to pick up a SIG MK25, and a used C&R Winchester Model 12 before the end of the year/early next year.
 
Probably my last new purchase in California ever. Pick it up in 5 days

But this year picked up 5 new guns not including this.

I bought a Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol. It kicks ass. Talking to the folks at the local Action Range (Golden Bullet!) , USPSA people are always selling guns. It’s going to be PPT in the future . I scored a CZ SP-01 almost unshot from a Glock shooter who didn’t like it. Price :$550. Someone else is unloading 2 Caniks. PPT is the way to go. I’m spending my limited funds on reloading components. When I’m ready , I’ll put the feelers out at the club.
 
Was going to build out a ELR bat systems 336 Lapua or 375 CT custom rifle

Waiting on that to get it right.

Ordered a custom 30" Blaser f16 pro 12 g o/u (without those pointless ports or extra 2 inches of weight in the front).

Want a bear wheel gun too. Found a Ruger Alaska in 44mag but don't want 2 inch barrel and leaning towards a 454 casull.

Shopping for an ar-10 in 308 or 6.5c rn. Prob go ddm5 v5 or v4 unless I can find a better option on here :)

All the difficult gandering and price hikes sure makes me miss Texas

Believe its based on POS. the DROS and whatever system this tax hike runs through don't talk from what I heard. Just spoke to Eric at Cordelia Gun Exchange and he told me that. If I want the DD 6.5c ar-10 he suggested, he said he would ring it up, tender and order. Gun shows up in 4 weeks then I DROS and Wait

The new tax does not apply to FFL03 since there will be no sales of firearms or ammo. I seriously thought about applying for mine but you give ATF the right to search your premise unwarranted ...2x a year I believe. not that I am hiding anything lol just want to own the home and have solid roots first. had to edit that in there

I ordered an FN Scar 17s from Cordelia Gun Exchange and was told two things - 1. They are having a webinar that will clarify the taxes this week. 2. If I paid in full before June 30th, I can expect to avoid the new tax. I'm waiting for final confirmation, but I placed an order in hopes of them sticking to #2 lol.

It makes sense. The tax is on new purchases they make so they pass it onto us. If the sale is done now, there is no additional tax they are responsible for.
Nice gat. Been wanting a spear myself but doesn't Cali have an additional regulation on those? I'm beginning to miss hot and humid Texas

Let's see, there's a lot of interpretations so far and the big chains are persistent on tax based on delivery date. At this point, I will likely commit to the gun either way. I saw the 556 spear in their store and it looks great, with a more modern look (just because Scar has been around forever though) but most comparisons have lead me to stay with the Scar.

Don't know too much about the spear still, but the Scar in Cali has a pinned stock, fin grip and approved barrel length.

Eric from Cordelia says he is basing it on the date of transaction. If the state does charge him and he comes back changing his answer, that might be an issue, but I can't imagine he will go back on his word. The industry is based on relationships. It makes me wonder though, I ordered a custom over under shotgun from a Texas shop, which I paid for already, but new guns transferred into CA are not being purchased by California gun shops so I wonder how that would pan out?

I'm tired of all this legislation without clarity or transparency. It should be law of all lands that it must show us where these tax dollars go and how it's making a difference. They got this passsd being it's a "gun violence prevention tax." Hot words. Real solution is tackle mental health. Why isn't there a clause to say something like in 5 years, if the data doesn't show gun violence went down, then the tax goes away? Nope. That would make too much sense and be too logically fair. Parties would have to raise millions to go back to the courts to reverse something that doesn't work. Legislation is a business and just another money grab to fund the govt fight against it's own people. Off my soapbox now, hah

Yeah the scar is a tried and true platform. It's a pound lighter because it has more plastic parts but that doesn't mean less reliability. Plastics have come a very long way. The spear It's sort of a novel mechanism so it would be smart to wait to see how it plays out in the field. I personally wouldn't want one unless it's in that new fury round but just as aforementioned, would be responsible to wait and see real world results.

My rule of thumb when buying any regulated firearms in CA is that it must be easily reversible if I move out of state. The scar falls into that category and if the barrel extension is a nuisance, betting by that time, a couple thousand rounds would be through that barrel and it has to replaced anyways
