Where do you draw the line and tell a buyer "you're on your own" after the sale?

Right? When I bought that P-01 steel frame the previous owner said he put about 1500 to 2000 rounds through it and I told him thanks for getting the gun warmed up for me

My CR920XP needed nearly 300 rounds before it would cycle reliably.

Honestly, I always tell buyers to contact me after a sale if they have questions, etc.

In your case though, its been months and I feel like you’ve already tried and now it’s the buyers turn to follow up, etc.

I sold a Mazda RX-7 a while back and the seller asked me for the compression test numbers over 2 years after I sold the car, then got upset when I said it's been 2 years I got rid of all that stuff. Lucky for him I found it, but as a rule going forward now I give people about a week to stew in their regrets before I figure they've had an overly fair shot.

Never been, but maybe one day, if they don't go private. Back when I was out east driving through all of the elevation changes that happen in The Boot of Watkins Glen was really memorable.

The west side extension to Pitt Race was amazing, too bad they're smashing the whole place up for an AI data center. Not even sure why they'd demolish a race track to build a datacenter, there's so much unused land in that area....

At what point does a private seller’s responsibility end?

The moment they take possession and leave.
It's on the buyer to inspect what they are buying before they accept the condition, pay and leave.

Shadow was our first pistol. The shop guy sold my wife on it because we were shopping for a Glock before the ban. Kinda wish I knew more and started this hobby earlier. Ugh. Even with the Glock ban nobody has been going out of their way to get a Shadow. I personally don’t care for the gun since every pistol since has been better. Except for the p365. It’s been a pain in the ass from the beginning. Haven’t done XMacro or anything larger our current set up is a comped 365X. Better but still a pain in the ass. lol.

I draw the line at you are a pain in the ass I am not selling this to you. I don't need the hassle and whatever money those super peculiar buyers are offering certainly ain't worth it. I've turned down offers for items because the buyer was a PITA asking too many irrelevant questions and/or questions I have no answers to. It's used product. If someone is so picky they can go purchase a new one.

I've learned that when people are that picky from the beginning and want to haggle so much, I just shut it down and decline to sell to them. I firmly believe in the 80/20 rule, and I've learned that 20% of people cause 80% of your headaches, so I just try to eliminate the 20% as soon as I identify them. They will always find somethign wrong with it after the fact and will usually either want to return it or some sort of refund either full or partial. So I just try to focus all my attention and service on the "good" aka normal customers. Things have gone much smoother ever since.

We need to normalize people being on eBay or Gunbroker for lowest dollar items. Bidding systems exists for a reason.

Even when you post price is firm and post at the lowest dollar, people want a deal and get upset when you won’t give one. And since people post at a higher price to account for that behavior, lowballers are more aggressive with lowballing to account as a reaction. It’s like a race to the bottom of the barrel.

Ask what you want to ask before you buy, and pay what is being asked to be paid, or go bid on eBay/Gunbroker if you want to complain after a sale, since they have systems in place for that.

I will ALWAYS take it off-site. And I will ALWAYS speak with someone on the phone. And I will ALWAYS know their real name. Without ALL those details, there is no reason to trust someone. If someone feels the need to conceal ANY of these details, they are not trustworthy.

Seriously. Imagine the local cops having the following discussion:

Five-O: In your own words, tell us what happened.

Victim: It all happened so fast!

Five-O: It's ok. Take your time.

Victim: Well I met this guy online. His name is Glockelmator. He seemed really nice. He promised to sell me an off-roster High Point pistol for a hundred bucks, if I would meet him in the Taco Bell parking lot at 10:00 p.m. because that's when his shift was over.

Victim: He wasn't nice at all! He smelled like cheesy beef burritos and called me really mean names! And then he pointed the High Point at me!
