I am sure Glock is internally feeling pressure to be able to sell pistols again in CA. Longer they can’t the more folks are buying other striker fired pistols increasing the chance the market share of Glocks sold in CA lower moving forward when they get back on the market. Got to hold some Gen 6 Glocks that had come into my local gun store (going to a LEO). They’re nice feeling in the hand for sure.

The gen 6 is a nice update to the gen 5, much better than the gen 3 for sure. However given the competition of similar polymer framed striker fired pistols out there now, I was unimpressed. It took them a long time to come out with the gen 6 and IMO it's already outdated.

The echelon is more modular with the FCU, and is direct mount compatible with more optics than any pistol, comes with steel night sights, better take down lever design, and as good reliability so far in torture tests. For the price, it makes the gen 6 look overpriced.

If Ruger brought the RXM to the CA roster it would absolutely destroy Glock's sales. Much cheaper, more modular, and better features out of the box.

The biggest benefit to Glock since they lost the edge of reliability to the modern competition that's caught up is the superior aftermarket support and cross compatibility of mags/holsters and some parts.

My honest answer: no

I agree, it use to be a great deal with the blue label certificate if you're a fan-boi such as myself.

Now unless you just want a stand and blast match, there's no other incentive.

Any chance you can elaborate on how Glock has lost edge on reliability? In the 2010s, I settle on Glock and Sig pistols and really stopped looking at what was new. I was happy at the time with those options and have enjoyed the P365 now that it is easy to get in CA. Just really have dug more deeply into reliability of newer pistols.

will they even get back in the market. CA is routinely the #3 or #4 firearms market in the US. It seems like they would but I’m starting to have my doubts. Plus we do have done good alternatives now.

It's not that Glock has become less reliable, but modern manufacturing has made it so that the competition has caught up to their level of reliability or better. A lot of Glock's success arises in that they came out at a time when semi auto pistols were notoriously unreliable, and Glock broke that trend after they ironed out the kinks.

Nowadays plenty of other pistols are also known for reliability, like the m&p 2.0, echelon, p226, XDM (the early iterations had durability concerns, not as much the newer ones), most rugers, and the list goes on. Not every brand is perfect, but if you know which particular lines to get they'll be plenty reliable and durable as a Glock, and essentially all of them offer greater feature sets out of the box, typically for a more reasonable price.

I want to like Glocks because of the simplicity of design, but right now they're not a player in this market. So I'm moving on, my last two gen 3's are going on the market soon and then I'll be Glock-less. My HK's seem like a bargain compared to inflated off-roster gen 5 and 6 prices.

I have a SK and standard, plus a match slide. They are good guns, and as far as striker guns go my favorite.

I have a VP9L and that gun feels seriously refined compared to any glock model.

if/when glock comes out with a CA compliant model they will sell a ton but there has never been so many good striker guns available in CA as there are now.

HK is undoubtedly a brand that over builds and takes the time to refine their products, and would outlast any Glock. This does come however with a much higher price tag, so it seems a bit unfair to compare the two based on feature set alone without considering the difference in cost. I got my blue label g19 before the Glock ban rush for $425 pre-tax, any HK product will be significantly more for sure.

Right, it's kind of like comparing a Honda to a BMW. (car or motorcycle)

Both can be pretty reliable and get the job done but no doubt there's vast differences.

I am still mildly butt hurt I finally win a certificate and I cant transfer it to an out of state family member.

Probably pressure from the profit motive. California is a huge market.

european gun companies don’t give a F- about the CA market. Though glock does keep losing contracts to sig and cz

Glock design is now public domain just like AR15, print shoot repeat. Buy your own shackles or build your own key.
