Do you know who I blame for all the inconvenience from the dozen or so spam calls I get every day? I blame stupid people. If there were no stupid people, there would be no phone scammers. It’s the stupid people who pay them and keep them in business.

Nobody is selling an ACOG for $300. No, nobody has decided that they you are uniquely deserving of getting their gen 3 LNIB G19 for $450. You are not that special and if you believe you are, then you are that special… but wearing a helmet licking the windows in the short bus “special”. If the deal seems too good to be true, it is. Especially if someone DM you out of the blue because they noticed you seem like a really good dude and they had this special deal that they don’t really need and they wanna help you out. And NO! the stripper does not like you or think you are cute or funny. She thinks you are stupid and disgusting. Actually, the more money you give her, the less she respects you. She knows deep in her heart that she is a trainwreck and only an idiot would want anything to do with her.

People, stop falling for this crap. The ratio of $1,500 glock gougers to the philanthropist, trying to help a new guy out is about 1000:1, and probably more like 1000 to 0. You are a thousand times more likely to come across this sort of price gouging opertunistic A-hole:

Do you also blame the women who are raped for being raped?

Victim blaming is nothing but pure ignorance. The blame for scams rests entirely with the criminal, not the victim.

I used ptp sales thru calguns years ago. I got screwed several times. I won't do ptp anymore it's just not worth it. I'd rather pay more and be secure in the knowledge that it's a legit deal. I probably bought close to $6k in gear the last 4 months ALL thru places like Brownell's, Sportsman's warehouse, bass pro and the gun range and a few dealers like precision optics, bar-sto and efk dragon fire. I'm guaranteed the deal I asked for and no hassle shipping and receiving.

How about men who get murdered? Rape is a crime and yes there are best-practices for prevention. This is why security-minded men tell women we know and love not to travel alone at night in bad areas or to get blackout drunk at frat parties...and other super obvious rules for living.

Isn't this why women are more careful with their drinks now? They don't want to get roofied. They shouldn't have to worry about their briefly-unattended drinks, but we all live in the real world and there are some bad people in it. That's why property values vary wildly, or why some schools are terrible compared to others.

Point is, victimhood has best-practices for prevention. Notice that nobody ever talks about straight men being "trafficked". This special victim status only seems to apply to women, for some reason. Men are always assumed to have agency and are expected to use it, and this includes fleeing and force.

One of the best preventatives against scams is being smart and employing critical thinking. Most people put very little effort into becoming better critical-thinkers, onr of the most vital skills one can have.

The reckless and stupid will always be fodder for con artists and manipulators.

WTF are you talking about...

Sometimes it takes losing a few hundred dollars of your discretionary funds and being a dumbo to learn your lesson. Your friends should make fun of you and never let you live it down so you don't make the same mistake again.

Look, buying guns and accessories from your discretionary funds is not the same as being scammed out of your rent money or medical bills money. This should be money you have left over after taking care of your necessities which is why I'm far less sympathetic.

After taking a look, the tactic is trying to make you think you’re losing out. This guy received 35 messages in a couple days.

Basically had a low price and kept saying, might be gone by then, pay for it now… pay for my gas etc.

He asked for peoples number vs put his own in knowing his area code wasn’t in CA, which is always a huge give away that people aren’t noticing

The ol' FOMO strategy.

How about they message you directly but $4k they’re selling, but we’re too busy to put up a listening?

To me, that’s the kind of invitation of meet up and get kicked square in the nuts. These guys can’t post these scams publicly because about 90% of us would sniff it out about four seconds.

My weaknesses is people who are just slightly below market on something I’m interested in.

Scammers rely on percentages, it just takes time to find the stupid or gullible. Don't be stupid or gullible.

Before the relationship I’m in, I met a lot of women online dating.
I got a lot, that I didn’t have to pay for… 😊
